Guide to Start Business
Step 1: Set Up
Let’s Start with creating your Guy/Gal/Character this one doesn’t matter much except you gonna look at them during your Playthrough if you get a good roll.
After you join the World of Manhatten immediately hit pause to orient yourself.
You want to head to the Insider App on your Phone and check the Demands for lawyers.
(The fastest you can find is by sorting after Import Price/Tax since Fees like lawyers don’t have one)
You want the Demand to be at least 50% or higher in the Areas of Hell’s Kitchen or MidTown because, in these 2 regions, you’ll be able to push the Prices/Fees beyond 300+
You can also settle for Garment District or Murray Hill but you will not be able to make as much money there.
Now that you have either Reset till you had one of these Areas with above 50% demand( or disregarded the advice of 50%+ Demand), you’ll want to find an Office Space to settle in
(This will come later, DO NOT rent it right now it would be a waste of money)
To find an office Space you want to open Voggle maps. (Default keybind: M)
Then you want to select offices in the Side menu like this:
To select the right Office Space you’d want one that has a traffic index (Car Symbol) of 50+ Although 45+ might work but it’s going to take longer to fill the capacity (Person Shape Symbol).
Now you may ask yourself why do I need a High Traffic index, it’s because of how fast word spreads of your business which means how fast/many customers will come.
Capacity is how many Customers can come per Hour for example if it’s saying 10 that means it won’t be more than 10 Customers per hour no matter how many Workstations or Shopping baskets you have.
You can get a quick overview of the Stats if you just select the Building, if you want more details you can press the “Open in Bizman” button to get them.
This image is for an office that has a traffic index of 25 and an Hourly Customer Cap/Capacity of 10.
Step 2: Main Phase
Now that the game can truly begin,
- Day 1: First, we want to sleep on the nearest bench to the school till shortly before 6, since school will open at 6.
- Day 2: You need to take the basic management Course in the school so you can get employees.
If you have timed it right you can get the Subway to the City Workforce Recruiters (only they have lawyers in “Stock” as of now) and either get their number so you can later on call them on the phone, you’ll need to be fast since they close at 17.
You can get the number of most businesses from the Employees at the Executive Desks so you can call them instead of needing to go back to them whenever you need something delivered.
(You only need to start talking with them for a second and can just leave the conversation, you can always check the Contacts on the phone if you have that store)
If the time was slightly wrong don’t worry, just get some Cheap Food from a Fruit and Vegetable store (they are the cheapest Food to hunger in my opinion)
Then Choose which bank you are going to use and head there.
Find a nearby bench to sleep on till shortly before 8.
- Day 3: We go to the bank to get a maximum amount of loan, you should only be able to get 15.000 but that’s more than enough (Vantander bank allows Loans to 800.000 and Jensen Capital only till 40.000).
You can set the Repayment Rate to 1 in the Finance Menu to make sure you don’t lose as much money just yet.
(I Spend roughly 8100 of That Loan overall on the business but that’s with some extra Stuff that can be left out or substituted for cheaper stuff)
Only NOW you want to get the Office Space you found in the first step (this is because you pay Rent on all Buildings you own per Day)
Now that you have the office Space you can call the City Workforce to request a Full-time lawyer Emploee, I chose to get the 1 day Delivery because I want to start as soon as possible. Also while on the Menu you want to get another lawyer but with a Delivery Time of 10 Days because that makes it a lot cheaper and they can send them to you already in the next day if you got lucky like me.
(2nd Lawyer so one can Train and the other Work do Switch them around till both are 50+ Skill)
After having placed the Recruitments you want to head to the nearest Office Supplies or IKA, grab a Handtruck and get 1x PC, a Basic Desk, an Office phone and a Multi Chair (You can get an office Chair for cheaper)
Bring them all to your office via the nearest Subway (or walk there) and set up the first Desk, it doesn’t matter how ugly it looks for now all it needs to be is for them to be there so the lawyer can work.
You also would want to get a Cleaner/Janitor from Anders Recruiters preferably Full-time so they can keep the office clean (Clean Office Factors into the Customer Satisfaction found in Insight of the Business and allows for higher prices in “Inventory&Pricing”)
You’ll need a Cleaning Station from Square Appliances so the Cleaner can work.
- Day 4: You should soon get a Lawyer so they can get to work immediately and make you money.
I recommend the Opening Hours of 8 to 16, 7 Days a week, can be adjusted depending on how you like it but make sure that the Full-time Employees stay below 50h/week
Step 3: Further Steps
You should still have enough money left to grab Home from the tutorial and get another Lawyer Workstation combo (PC, chair, desk and phone) You can go to Ika and grab a Bed and the Lawyer Workstation. The bed is because you don’t get one in the Rental from the Tutorial.
Recommended that you make at least 1k+ a Day before this Step.
Set up an HQ so you can get HR (to train Lawyers) and a Headhunter for more Lawyers.
This is because with a headhunter you don’t need to pay the Recruitment Cost and you can choose which one you take from a wider array of candidates.
Your Headquarters doesn’t need a good Trafic index or Customer Capacity, it won’t be open to the wider public, all it needs is some Space to stuff all the Descs for your staff like HR, headhunter, Logistics and Purchasing agents.
When the lawyers are all Trained up to 100% by HR and you have filled the vacant spots you can look into Optimizing your office or you use one of the Blueprints from the workshop via one of the interior Installers for a fee.
Having a high Interior is important to the Amount of Price you can set.
And you are now set, you can also get a Job at El Gato to skip time forward and earn some extra money.
A few things:
Some businesses need 24 hour coverage, like restaurants and gift shops. I find law offices don’t, but I’m not sure why.
BizMan->Click on Business->Look at graph, click Yesterday.
It will show you your customer numbers coming in every hour. Plan your schedule accordingly. If your maxed out at any point, you might be leaving money on the table.
HR managers sick day coverage:
BizMan->Click on relevant HQ->HR Managers Tab->Click on HR Manager.
Be sure to assign them employees! They max out at 25 at 100% skill, and will automatically train your employees over time, for free at max skill. Click the toggle for “Automatically replace employees with temporary employees”, and set the max skill level up to 100% for training.
