Mining and the Crow
Unlocking the Mine
To enter the dungeon in the Garden of Eden, you need to become strong enough by completing your second parrot rebirb, which requires reaching floor 7, and maxing out:
- Feather Punch
- Feather Armor
- Parrot Aura
After meeting these requirements, a message will appear in the Forge instructing you to return and break into the mine.
How the Crow Mines
The crow does not mine automatically until you purchase the Crow Contract skill. Before obtaining the skill, you can make the crow mine by clicking on ore rocks.
Crow Contract becomes available after you collapse the mine. Once purchased, the crow will continue mining automatically while you work on other tasks.
The crow hops between rocks and pecks them for 1 damage per mining interval. His mining interval decreases as he levels up, although the minimum interval is limited by his current rebirb level. The crow prioritizes higher-value rocks.
Collapsing the Mine
The mine room has an ore counter along the bottom of the screen. The counter tracks the amount of ore mined rather than the amount of ore currently in your inventory.
When the counter is full, a button appears above it that allows you to collapse the mine. Collapsing the mine rewards Deep Cores, which can be spent in the Treasure Room.
Because the counter tracks mined ore, purchasing ore upgrades does not slow progress toward collapsing the mine. You can and should purchase these upgrades as you progress.
Metalworking
As you level up the mine, the crow gains access to Metalworking. Open the Parrot Forge menu and press the plus button on the right side to access the Metalworking interface. You can also open it by clicking the gold bars currency badge.
Metalworking has three reinforcement types:
| Metalworking Type | Effect |
|---|---|
| Core Edge | Increases Parrot Damage |
| Armor Plating | Increases Parrot HP |
| Aura Rivets | Increases Parrot Regen |
After selecting a Metalworking type, drain refined ore to fill the Charge bar. Once the bar is full, select Reinforce to increase the corresponding statistic.
Upgrading Core Edge also provides a hidden bonus. For every 10 points of Core Edge, you and the crow gain +1 Mining Damage, up to a maximum of +8 Mining Damage.
Each Metalworking reinforcement costs Legendary Aura. The Aura total may not update correctly after spending it, so keep track of your actual reserves carefully.
Crow Leveling and Experience
The crow gains experience when rocks are broken, not when he mines them automatically. Helping the crow mine causes him to level twice as fast.
Increasing your Core Edge through Metalworking can significantly increase Mining Damage, allowing you to break rocks and level the crow much faster.
Crow XP per broken rock is determined by the rock’s HP and whether it contains gold:
| Rock HP | Ore XP | Gold XP |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | 2 XP | |
| 3 | 6 XP | |
| 4 | 12 XP | |
| 5 | 16 XP | 31 XP |
| 8 | 38 XP | 76 XP |
| 13 | 92 XP | 183 XP |
| 21 | 211 XP | 409 XP |
| 34 | 494 XP | 988 XP |
Gold-containing ore rocks provide roughly twice as much crow XP as regular ore rocks.
Rebirthing the crow provides several benefits:
- Reduces his minimum mining interval, allowing leveling to increase his mining speed further.
- Increases the amount of ore he gains.
- Increases the gold spawn rate.
Because gold rocks provide more XP, the increased gold spawn rate also gives the rebirthed crow more opportunities to gain experience quickly.
Sparrow Rebirbs
When a sparrow has accumulated enough XP, use the rebirb button in the lower-right corner of the Sparrow menu to split it into twice as many birds, increasing popcorn pickup speed.
The XP costs for each rebirb are:
| Result | XP Cost |
|---|---|
| 2 sparrows | 500K XP |
| 4 sparrows | 1M XP |
| 8 sparrows | 2M XP |
| 16 sparrows | 4M XP |
Once you have 16 sparrows and 16M XP, you can reset your sparrow progress, returning to 1 sparrow. This increases subsequent sparrow XP gain and the popcorn respawn rate.
The sparrow-granted popcorn respawn rate also applies to desert popcorn, increasing golden popcorn income.
The popcorn respawn rate can reach a maximum of 10x. Because golden popcorn is important for expedition performance through Muad’Bird, reaching the 10x maximum is generally recommended.
The sparrow XP multiplier could conceivably continue increasing indefinitely.
Sparrow Resonance
The Sparrow menu has a green button in the lower-left corner that allows you to convert your collected sparrow XP into Resonance. Using it drains the collected XP and decreases the levels of your sparrows.
Resonance directly multiplies the amount of popcorn and seeds you gain. For example, with a 2x Resonance multiplier, collecting one popcorn kernel gives you two.
The Resonance thresholds are:
| Experience Required | Resonance |
|---|---|
| 100 | x1 |
| 22K | x2 |
| 96K | x3 |
| 425K | x4 |
| 1.873M | x5 |
