Cities: Skylines II – Forcing Farmbuildings (and Other Industry) to Align with Roads

You can influence how farmbuildings are created. This method can be used for any industry that uses zoning – including landfills.

How to Do It

Use (Dirt)roads around the farm. create paths that cut into the area where the farmland will be.

Depending on your situation you can do this from the center where your farm-roadconnection is or from the outside.

Make sore all farmland is accessible from your farmbuilding startingzone without having to cross a road even when its just small passages on the edges.

You have to align the zoning for the farm around the roads -this way you get smaller portions of land within your farming area that will force the buildings to align with those outside roads.

The zone is not allowed to cross the roads – thus the game has to calculate the space for those farmbuildings in the larger areas between the roads and this will make those buildings align with the roadedges. Depending on the size of the farm you have to experiment a bit with how much space you leave and where – but once you get the hang of it its fast and easy.

You can basically use any kind of path or road and you even do not have to use any roads at all once you get a feel on how to do it.

You can use this method for any specialised industry that allows zoning as well as garbage landfills – its more of an optical workaround that can make for some nice breakups in those rather uniform areas.

There is a limitation on the results of this method: game progress. If the company that uses the farm grows, there might generate new buildings that will use the remaining space -so no guarantees that once you have reched a certain layout of the buildings it will stay that way.

If the company goes bankrupt or moves away for other reasons the game will not delete the old buildings as for 1.0.1012f1 version of the game – this leads to the effect that all buildings on the farmland get the “not connected icon” – wich will happen anyway but as a new company moves in the game will not use the already existing buildings so you might have to rezone the area if this optical bug bothers you.
