Dying Light – Fastest Way to Complete The HomoHomini Lupus Est Achievement

The HomoHomini Lupus Est Achievement Guide

All credit goes to gunch!

Before Getting Started

This method relies on you having a save file that either has not started the “Pact with Rais” mission or have a 100% completion save file. If you don’t have either of those, you can just start a new play through or google search for a 100% save file and there is one on Nexus Mods you can use. There will be a link to it in the Wrapping up section.

Fresh/ New Save File

If you are using a new save, play through the mission until you meet Rais and talk to Karim. After speaking to Karim, leave the building then exit your game. Do not contact the Gre. If you contact the GRE you will have to restart another play through. Open your File Explorer and go to:

  • Local Disk (C:) –> Program Files (x86) –> Steam –> userdata –> YOUR STEAM ID –> 239140 –> remote –> out –> save

Right click on your save and select “Properties”. Select the Read-only option, then apply the changes. This makes it so the file cannot be saved and your progression is locked to the Contact the GRE quest step.

After putting your save on Read-only, contact the GRE and look North. There will be a bus in the middle of the road. Go to it.

On your way to the bus, if you don’t get the mini map notification that there is an even occurring, quit your game, then press continue. You will be back before you contacted the GRE. If there is an event near the bus, it will either be a survivor struggling with a zombie or 4 of Rais’s men with 2 captive survivors. Rescuing the 2 survivors only counts as one of the 15.

The captive survivors event will be where 2 of Rais’s men are in the screenshot below.

100% Save File

If you care about your save and would like to keep it after the final mission you should back up your save file in another location first.

From the main menu, select Play, then Play Campaign. Hover over your save file and press the key to show the advanced options. You will see the option to restart from a quest. Select the “Pact with Rais” mission and then answer yes to tell the game you want to do this. The game will start with you at the tower. Play the mission through until you talk to Karim, then leave the building and exit your game. Do not contact the Gre. If you contact the Gre you will have to restart another play through. Open your File Explorer and go to:

Wrapping Up

If you did not close out of the save file properties, then you can undo the Read-only and apply the settings. If you already closed out of the properties, just follow the directions to the save location. Finally, if you backed up your save file, you can now put your save file back into the folder.

Dying Light 100% Save file.

In order for you to put the save file in the folder, you need to have a pre-existing save named “save_coop_1.sav”. If you already have a save file there, back up the save in another location before swapping it out. If you do not have a save_coop_1.sav file, then create a new save file in game and once you get out of bed in the tower, you can exit the game and replace the save file.
