Genshin Impact – Which Sword is Better? Evaluation of the Signature Weapons in the Second Hald

Hello, fellow travelers! In the 3.7 version, we have two handsome and powerful characters, Kaedehara Kazuha and Alhaitham. Their signature weapons have also been re-released. Let’s take a look at the effects and versatility of these two weapons.

First and foremost, it’s important to note that both Kazuha and Alhaitham are sword-wielding characters, so their signature weapons are also swords.

However, due to their different focuses, their weapons have different effects. The Freedom-Sworn leans more towards team support, while the Light of Foliar Incision enhances the user’s DPS.

Enhancements Provided by the Signature Weapons

In the current version, both Kazuha and Alhaitham benefit greatly from Dendro element and Elemental Mastery.

The enhancements brought by their signature weapons are evident, so let’s take a look at the unique features of these two weapons:

Freedom-Sworn: It provides high base EM and offers excellent supportive effects. With it, Kazuha can effortlessly activate the weapon’s skill effect after using Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst to trigger elemental reactions. When paired with Kazuha’s own Elemental DMG bonus, it can bring significant benefits to the entire team. However, it’s important to note that the team comp should prioritize characters with strong Normal Attack, Charged Attack, and Plunging Attack to fully utilize the effects of the Freedom-Sworn.

Light of Foliar Incision: It enhances Alhaitham’s main damage sources, which heavily rely on Elemental Mastery. The weapon’s skill effect increases Normal Attack and Elemental Skill damage based on Elemental Mastery, providing a significant boost to Alhaitham’s overall DPS. Compared to other weapons, the enhancement is quite noticeable. Additionally, it provides a certain amount of CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG, reducing Alhaitham’s requirement on artifacts. This allows for more flexibility in artifact choices and opens up the possibility of selecting support characters to focus on direct damage.

Weapon Versatility Analysis

Both of these two weapons are swords, but their focuses differ, making them suitable for different characters.

Freedom-Sworn: Its benefits for DPS characters are not particularly prominent, as it is better suited for supporting roles that can bring benefits to the entire team. Its trigger conditions are simple, making it highly versatile. Therefore, most Sword-wielder except the main DPS can consider using it. For example, it can be used by characters like Jean and Qiqi to provide both team survivability and higher support capabilities, while characters like Bennett, Nilou, and Kuki Shinobu can provide enhanced support abilities, and shielders like Albedo, Layla, and Kirara.

Light of Foliar Incision: Its weapon skill restricts its use to a limited number of characters, resulting in lower versatility. It is only suitable for a few sword wielders that heavily rely on Elemental Mastery. Examples include characters like Nilou, who deals damage with her Elemental Skill, and characters like Kuki Shinobu, who utilizes his Elemental Skill while off-field. It can also enhance the Elemental Skill damage of Kazuha. While it provides a good damage bonus to the Normal Attacks and Elemental Skills of the user, its effectiveness on non-DPS is limited. Therefore, using a more supportive weapon would be more appropriate for them.

Weapon Function Comparison

These two weapons have distinct characteristics and significant differences. They shine in their own respective areas.

Freedom-Sworn: It is rare to find a Sword that provides benefits to the entire team. Most weapons focus on increasing individual damage output or have offensive capabilities, except the Key of Khaj-Nisut. The Freedom-Sworn offers a more comprehensive team boost with increased ATK and damage bonuses. While the Key of Khaj-Nisut provides a significant amount of Elemental Mastery to the entire team based on max HP. These two weapons have a different focus, each with its own advantages.

Light of Foliar Incision: While there are several Swords available, almost all of them calculate their bonuses in a different way than this one. The bonus provided by the Light of Foliar Incision is based on Elemental Mastery, which is a rarity among Swords. However, there are very few main DPS that heavily rely on Elemental Mastery as their main attribute, except Alhaitham. Characters like Keqing, who can stack high Elemental Mastery, may consider using this weapon, but opting for weapons like the Primordial Jade Cutter or the Mistsplitter Reforged may yield better results.

In conclusion, the Freedom-Sworn is a powerful support weapon with high versatility, suitable for both DPS and support characters. On the other hand, the Light of Foliar Incision is an extremely specialized weapon that is primarily used by Alhaitham and lacks general versatility. However, we can anticipate the introduction of new characters in future updates, which may expand the range of viable users for it. For those interested in these weapons, it is recommended to consider the roster of characters currently owned before deciding whether to pull from this banner.
