Graveyard Keeper 2 – How to Alchemy (Basic Guide)

Alchemy Overview

Alchemy is unlocked relatively early in the game and is introduced through the main quests, specifically during the pursuit of summoning the fairy.

Alchemy is performed primarily in the Alchemy Lab. The system allows you to turn generic materials into a variety of useful consumables and ingredients, and it is necessary for progression.

Study Table

The Study Table is one of the most important stations in the Alchemy Lab.

To study an item:

1. Place the item you want to study into the Study Table.
2. Spend the required amount of Science and, in some cases, Faith.
3. The table provides a large amount of tech points and reveals which runes the item contributes, if any.

The studied item is not consumed.

Runes

Alchemy is based on the runes that items contain rather than on the specific items themselves.

For example, an item containing two Red Runes provides the same rune combination as another item containing two Red Runes. If an item provides a rune combination you need but is too expensive to use, try studying other items that may provide the same combination.

Folio

The Folio, located in the upper part of the room, lists every known alchemical item, the runes required to make each item, and the runes of every studied item, separated by color.

It can be used to cross-reference rune requirements with the rune combinations provided by studied items.

Technology Requirements

You do not need specific technologies to unlock items at the Laboratory.

Some items still require their corresponding technologies to be used, but consumables such as potions will function without their related technology.

Laboratory

The Laboratory combines the runes of one or two items to create a new item. When upgraded, it can combine three items.

The total of each rune in the current combination can be seen through the tubes at the bottom of the Laboratory interface.

Not every combination produces an item.

The Boost section can be ignored because it is unused.

Each craft consumes one flask from a nearby Flask Shelf.

Flask Shelves

Flask Shelves hold up to 100 flasks.

Each Alchemy Flasks item placed into a Flask Shelf adds 5 flasks, similar to how firewood is added.

Formulation Bench

The Formulation Bench is an important crafting station used to make a large number of important items.

It is integral to progression and also has farming uses, church uses, and other necessary uses.

Distillation Cube

The Distillation Cube is another important building. It produces a small handful of items and is frequently used.
