HITMAN 3 – Tips for Playing on Quest 3 (Wired)

Quest 3 Tips

Сrеdit gоеs to Treebs

Hello,

So I’ve bee doing a lot of experimenting with this game in Vr to get it looking and running well on the Quest 3 and wanted to share some tips that have MASSIVELY improved the game for me:

Close Other Apps

Firstly, for some reason the VR version does not play well with any other apps. Even on my 4090 I was getting constant stuttering (on the Epic version) and found that closing everything but the game (Discord , Oculus Tray Tool, browsers etc) got rid of the stuttering.

72fps

I also had stuttering when playing above 72hz. Using the sidequest app to force 72fps made the game feel much smoother. This also allows you to boost the res more.

Resolution

By default the game runs at the same resolution as PSVR but this can be easily remedied. If you use third party apps, it can cause issues and stutering so instead use the Oculus Debug Tool to increase the resolution ( more details below). This you can experiment with depending on your hardware but I found the below tweak helped a lot…

Oculus Debug Tool Tweaks

For me, this was the most key thing. I tried using other apps to boost the resolution but had issues and instead found the best way was to do it via the Oculus debug tool. There are some very key settings which can massively help with the game. The first is the FOV- Tangent Multiplier. By default, I was getting very visible black rings around my view, which was very distracting.

I found the if I changed the Horizontal Value to 0.93 and the Vertical to 1.18, it completely eliminated the problem. I also set my Encode resolution width to 0, Dynamic bitrate to 0 and Encode Bitrate to 500. On my 4090 I changed the Pixel Per Display Override to 2.5, which was super sharp and butter smooth. As I said before though, you can tweak to find what works for you with your hardware

UI Mod

For me, I hate any kind of visible UI in Vr games. I found this mod though and it helps to get rid of everything but the inventory bubble and the outfit overview on the left hand. It’s made the game so much more immersive for me: link.

Inventory Bubble

I hate this thing being visible all the time. I actually found that a simple way to hide it is just to stand on your tip toes, lean back and click on the left thumstick to reset view. This makes the bubble out of your view but you can still put stuff in it by placing or grabbing items like you’re taking it from your jacket.

Overall, with the above tweaks, it has transformed the game for me. It’s still a very lazy port but now I’ve gotten over it’s shortcomings, I’m enjoying it a LOT more. Still hoping the Vr version gets some updates at some point but if not, these adjustments might make the game at least playable for some.
