Kingdom Come: Deliverance – The Combos Achievement Guide

How to Get The Combos Achievement

The cuts (and indeed thrusts) flow along one of the two lines (left low – right shoulder, or right low – left shoulder), with a modification for ‘the same side’ roof flowing as from the shoulder to the opposite low guard, or any guard flowing to the opposite guard as normal when thrusting instead of cutting. (An option to move to the high guard before a right click results in the thrust going to the face rather than the chest, but otherwise changes nothing else).

So for many of the devices all you need is to select the entry guard and then left or right click the necessary number of attacks. For a few devices there is a single required input to shift the attacking line for the next cut, but only ever one.

Wounded enemies have a harder time defending – or moving – or counterattacking – so you can wear down an enemy, let him bleed for a while while defending yourself and then finish him off with a combinatory attack much more safely than to start in on a group of enemies while unpractised and they are all fully effective.

NPC get a few less restrictions to partly compensate for how much the player can bully them once they learn how to fence in game – I can routinely use combinations within a multi-opponent fight, or bully a single opponent with 3-4 back-back combinations (with a suitably weak weapon) just for fun, and with a 16:1 to 20:1 damage exchange rate over all, and without relying on masterstrikes or perfect parries as a crutch.

Sure, I use them, but I prefer to attack first, rather than sit around waiting for the NPC to throw a single cut, particularly once I have a minor injury which is bleeding – as time in the fight then erodes my ability to fight directly – and getting the fight done and over allows me to stop the bleed and after collecting the best of the loot, head to a saving bed to save the game post-fight and to heal.

(Typically I don’t overuse healing items, or save potions as it is useful to have a small supply on hand, for occasions where they will be helpful, and there are around 101 places where you can sleep to save and heal in game – it is easier to only use them when necessary than to constantly use and need to purchase or manufacture replacements – bandages you’ll want lots of though, or a Lazarus to do the same, as healing is very slow without aid, and a single bleed can be life threatening if you don’t stop it).
