Set your foliage density to low for maximum visibility of bugs, especially those on the ground.
Don’t waste materials crafting bombs other than the Standard Smoke Bomb unless you’re struggling to catch a specific bug.
Upgrade your belt as soon as you can! This will save you smoke bombs by improving your stun chance.
Throw bombs rapidly until the bug is stunned! Don’t wait to see whether it’s dazed after each throw – just spam it with bombs till you see and hear the daze animation. You may end up wasting 1 or 2, but this is more efficient and successful in the long run.
Utilize the smoke candle and the buzzy jar, especially together! The buzzy jar will show you rare bugs’ locations and the candle allows you to get right on top of them without scaring them, allowing you to aim perfectly.
Keep a couple of each bug in storage if you have space. Villagers ask for bugs as weekly gifts all the time, and this saves you having to go catch them again, especially the more rare or time-sensitive bugs.
