Stardew Valley – Trinkets Guide (Update 1.6)

Guide to Trinkets

After unlocking combat mastery, you get this new little star slot! It’s where you can place trinkets.

Trinket #1: Fairy Box

Desc: A pink chest which gives you a floating fairy once equipped. The fairy heals you for 2-5 health every few seconds.

Opinion: The Fairy is SO cute! It flutters its wings and follows you around and it’s adorable even though I’m 110% sure she would not help heal me in a life or death situation (the little health boosts are definitely nice though! And I like having her around just for the aesthetics. Plus, when she heals, it’s a little sparkly animation!! So cute).

Trinket #2: Pirate Egg

Desc: A blue egg with colorful specks which gives you a flying green-orange parrot once equipped. The parrot gives you a medium chance to get gold coins if you slay monsters.

Opinion: Unfortunately, I didn’t keep a close count on how much money this little guy actually got me, so I’m unsure of how great he is at making you money!! But he is also so, so cute. I just wonder the practical use here (as this egg dropped in skull caverns for me, but it seems that this advantage would be better to have in early game…?)

Trinket #3: Magic Quiver

Desc: The trinket icon is a purple arrow quiver with blue sparkles, and pink-tipped arrows inside. Despite those pink tipped arrows, the ones that are actually shot out as projectiles are light blue, and explode into sparkles on impact.

Opinion: These were my definite favorite in skull caverns, and were quite helpful for more annoying enemies like ghosts or serpents, because they’d be hit by an arrow projectile and get hit with good knockback 🙂 They shoot every few seconds, and normally did around 40-45~ damage for me, despite what the text description says. (see the 43 in the picture!!) I also have a combination ring which includes the napalm ring (blows up the surrounding area if monsters are killed) and my ring effects were maintained through the arrow projectiles!!! (e.g the mummy dying caused the surrounding tiles to explode!!)

Here are my two rings:

Interestingly, when I took both off the arrows were still doing ~30-35 damage each, but not blowing up the surrounding tiles. (I don’t think the Ruby rings impact this trinket’s power a ton!)

Trinket #4: Golden Spur

Desc: Cute! Golden spur that doesn’t show up on your character with a speed boost buff.

Opinion: I don’t use many weapons which increase crit strikes, but I tried it out and the speed boost is nice!

Trinket #5: Ice Rod

Desc: Cute blue ice rod that shoots out these light blue beams which turns the impacted hostile mob to ice and freezes them for X seconds.

Opinion: Cute and SO helpful for serpents and ghosts in skull caverns, also so helpful for pesky slimes !! I’ll def be reforging and using this one a ton.

Trinket #6: Basilisk Paw

Trinket #7: Frog!

Tysm to Sabletooth from discord for the pictures :,) the frog looks so adorable and instakills enemies (but no loot is left behind!)

I’ve heard of a variety of colours, and even a prismatic variant? I’ll have to keep grinding to get these little ones for myself though. The colours can be changed upon reforging, and have diff variants such as teal, brown, void (black with red eyes)!

Using the Anvil to Reforge Trinkets

Here are the different reforges I was able to get:

I’ve seen redditors say there’s a level 5 too:

Missing level 3, and unsure if there’s a level 5:

Decreasing the time it takes to shoot seems to decrease the damage it does? (Kinda) Exceptions – Heavy + Quick + Perfect Magic Quivers!
