Start the Game as Megacorp
By AlexiAcew.
Ignore this guide if: If you are Roleplaying or picking it for the flavour or are using specific game start related effects which require you to start megacorp (Bazaars, Common Ground, Fiefdom).
Why Megacorps are usually bad to start the game as from a gameplay perspective. And are better to be reformed into.
Reforming Exists
- Reforming your Government out of standard authority types into Megacorp is painless and cheap on Unity.
- Utilizing reform like this usually gets you better bang for your buck from your starting authority and allows you to swap into.
The Government type does not give you any benefits until you start meeting buisness partners
- Its Ruler Level bonus gives you branch office value.
- The authority effects outside of mercentile stance offers no immediate upside, and worse a catalymsic 50% increase to empire size from your planets, a key contributor to size in the early game.
**You can be given the…
Megacorp Experience* TM, where you meet your neighbors and despair as they’re all gestalt, genocidal or even worse, other MEGACORPS. Ruining your chances at coveted Commercial Pacts and Branch Offices.
Lack of strong earlygame civics
- Parlimentary system.
- Meritocracy.
- Rapid Replicators.
- Are all great civics you are missing out on and have good synergy with being reformed out of.
- Outside of some shared civics Megacorp is missing a lot of really valuable options in the earlygame which can be safely swapped out of into Megacorp.
Mercenary Enclave Civics in particular do bonus nothing and are not worth taking at game launch
- Lord of war is basically mandatory for Merc enclave stuff and you WILL be busy with that first enclave and wont need more untill you can swap into double or triple merc enclave civics.
Imperial Prerrogative Ascension Perk**
- This Ascension perk is really good and CANT be accessed by Megacorp. Yet more reason to cheese it by reforming into megacorp from a non megacorp.
I’d like to add that the starting jobs are strictly worse production wise at the start of the game until you at least get the Mercantile tradition. They both do trade value poorly and actual production poorly.
- Ex. Priests vs. Prosperity Preachers, or managers in general – Ethan.
No Isolationist Diplomatic stance.
