Super Snail – Incense FAQ

Incense Explained

What are they used for?

Mainly to be slotted into the shrine in your genelab, which is on the same shelf as your gear, just tap the button on the left to switch between shrine and gear shelf. But various characters all over the game ask for them from time to time too.

How do I get more of these?

Sadly, sources of incense are sparse and rare. The most stable sources are wishing event progression reward and unispark activation (paid). You can sometimes get it during exploration, a partner can have it as a rare rent, it is usually sold in seasonal event shop, and so on, and so forth, but expect to not get many of them.

There is a rat/roach/frog/whatever in my lab, what do?

Rule of thumb: if it is small and is somewhere in the lab, it is a critter to be zapped by the shrine, if it is big and stands in the middle of the room, it wants to talk and, likely, fight. If talking/fighting doesn’t work, zapping does. If zapping doesn’t seem to work, it means it needs more zapping. Up to 30 zaps, so be patient.

Aaaa! I accidentally shooed away a valuable critter/enemy! I lost in a fight to it, too! Did I ruin/reset it?

No, critters will return eventually, their “zap HP” won’t replenish, you’ll still be able to fight them, if possible. Just keep in mind, their appearance have a cooldown of several days. You don’t even need to kill current regular critter, shooing it away with a tap after cooldown has elapsed is enough.

How to zap efficiently?

You want to keep your incense sticks for sky beams and various storyline requests, so here is what you do. You’ve got a new incense, how many of them are in your shrine?

  • Zero. Put one in, wait around the game (no need to stare at an empty genelab) for a critter to zap, and do so. Even if critter isn’t story-related, it’s still “free” cells, and you never know which critter is story-related or not. Zap with this stick four times till only a little knob of it left.
  • One. Hold off a little. Second stick in the shrine won’t do any good, and you might suddenly encounter a greedy incident wanting that stick. But if you’ve got another one too, put them in the shrine, so you’ll have…
  • Three. See shrine’s eyes glowing? It is full of energy! Tap it several times till it explodes all over your ceiling, sending beam to the sky, then greet whatever crushes at your pond. Usually it is a helicopter bringing materials for your rocket cabin, speedups for refinery, and tool chests for you, but sometimes it is much more valuable. This is the main purpose of incenses.

What if I try to beam the sky, while I didn’t clear the pond. Will I waste helicopter/incense?

No, game will pop a warning about need to clear the pond before doing so, don’t worry.

Why do I even bother sending beam to the sky? I can’t use these materials, I have months worth of refine speedups, and those tool chests ain’t even good!

In time, all of it will have its uses. But the most important stuff comes not from helicopters, but from special takedowns, rewarding you with various genes, relics, gear, and fight questlines. You want to shoot as many objects from the sky as possible (although, requests for incense around the game might take priority over that).
