Build Guide to Skyfire Mage

I’ve been asked many question ever since I created the guide so please instead try and understand the priority and train on dummy. I spent countless hours on perfecting my build and rotation so don’t expect quick results for yourself.

Aptitudes
- For Heat Bomb oriented build you want 5x purple SS with Echo recharge and 9x HB.
- For Searing Sting oriented build you want 13x SS and 1x blue HB (8% damage increase after Fatuina Echo).
Empowers
- Spec effect for weapon (the only enchant worth spending gold on for T4)
- Attack speed (haste) > Resonance > CDR > Omni

Disclaimer
- I fact checked and calculated everything on my own. I condemn feelycrafting and guessing potential numbers.
- All my research is backed up by real results in raids and videos.
- I do not intend on explaining anything else than rotation. You follow this guide by own choice.
- You can check the last tab for various calculations although I doubt anything is going to be clear for anyone but me.
- I calculated differences between almost all aptitudes, stats and emblems.
- Focus is NOT better than Omni.

Action Priority Explanation
Don’t flame boost before heat bomb – HB calculations like crit rate, crit damage, ATK damage happen on explosion.
Usually it will look like this: 4 3 1 22 11 – 4 3 1 22 11
Action priority
- Not overcapping SS charges.
- Not overcapping heat in the HB.
- Not delaying HB to hardcast SF or Orb.
- Not overcapping orb charges.
- Using instant SF.
- Chaining SS together.
- Chaining SF together.
I recommend trying to spend the most SS charges in Flame boosts without overcapping either SS charges or Heat.
You aim to use 2 orbs for Flame Boost + IS(7), this way you reach 40 Heat for the 7 activation and don’t overcap either orbs and SS charges after 7 cycle.
Casting Skyfire on different targets will apply multiple DOTs thus giving you extra heat stacks.
Inscribed skill
Keep it in sync with Flame Boost and in later half of HB do; 4 7 2 – 3 1 2 – 3 1 2 – 3 22 – normal HB cycle (with Purple basin and Burst pot you have enough haste to do 3 1 2 at the end).
The reason for the orb before 7 is that you can front-load some extra damage into the 7 without spending GCD during it. It’s especially worth with HB build as you get some extra heat for free in IS.
This is not shown on rotation videos cause I implemented that after making them.
Heat Bomb build differences
- Every 2nd FB (not the one synced with IS) will be used at the end of HB cycle to buff 2 HB explosions.
- Attempt counting heat (every spell chages number from odd to even or from even to odd).
- If you use 3 SS charges in one HB cycle then you won’t fit 2 hardcast SF.
- If you use 2 SS charges in one HB cycle then you can fit 2 hardcast SF.
- You can use orbs after HB but it’s still suboptimal.
- Try to end HB with SF hardcast so it explodes with high Crush stacks.
- So you would rather use extra SS early or hold SS charge for next cycle.
- But you would NEVER overcap SS charges for heat management.
- However I haven’t tested it with perfect aptitudes for SS build, with 10x SS and 4x HB the normal rotation was still better.
Heat Bomb build is better for raids since you operate at higher average heat, but it can suffer on a fight where HB doesn’t explode. For example when target dies before. Also it’s still bugged and doesn’t explode which is a bigger damage loss with HB build than with SS build.
Searing Sting build differences
- You will move 2 talent points from Precise Blast to Unstable Explosive (picture below).
- You aim to use available SS charges at the start of the bomb when the ATK talent is active
- You aim to use orbs before HB.
- You will always use FB right after applying HB.
- If you have 2 orbs up but casting them would delay HB then you cast 2nd orb after ATK talent expires (yes, it’s higher prio than SF hardcast).
- You would only spend SS charges outside of the ATK talent window if you risk capping them.
- Casting orb as 1st spell after HB is suboptimal as it consumes the double crit rate for Skyfire.
- As for Inscribed Stone I speculate 7 2 – 3 1 2 – 3 22 – 3 22.
SS build is worse for raids, especially on fights where you generate extra heat because HB exploding early is a major DPS loss, with ATK talent losing most of it’s value if it’s not buffing your SF and SS after applying HB.
