Store Layout and Expansion Costs

Store Floor Plan

The store floor plan is based on all expansions available as of version 0.52. Most expansions are approximately square, while the base store, base Lot B, and depth expansions have nonstandard dimensions. The floor plan therefore provides an approximate representation of where each expansion adds usable store space.

Decoration Placement

Decorations can be placed in the same areas of the store where other furniture, including shelving, tables, and registers, can be placed.

Decorations can also be placed outside the store on the sidewalk without using mods such as Better Collision. The unmodded outdoor placement area is limited to decorations.

The sidewalk area extends approximately 2.5 expansion squares from the store wall to the street curb. Lines within the grey sidewalk area indicate the approximate spacing of these areas.

The length of the available sidewalk decoration area appears to depend on how many Shop A and Shop B expansions extend the length of the store. The floor plan shows what is essentially the current final size of the sidewalk decoration area.

Rent and Payment Deadlines

Rent accumulates each day when it remains unpaid. The payment process works as follows:

1. Rent initially becomes due, with a 7-day countdown.
2. After the first 7 days, it becomes past due and another 7-day countdown begins.
3. After a total of 14 days, the accumulated rent for all 14 days is automatically deducted from your funds.

The automatic deduction occurs regardless of whether you have enough money to cover the full amount. If you do not have enough funds, you can be placed into debt.

The same payment behavior applies to the electricity bill and worker payments.

Accumulating debt can potentially soft-lock the game if you cannot generate enough income from selling current items, cards, and furniture to keep the store operating.

Because every expansion increases your rent, expanding too quickly can create a larger financial burden than expected. Make sure you can afford the additional costs before expanding.
