There will still be a certain number of users in 2024 so here is the guide that can help run the Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft on Windows 7. Enjoy!
Windows 7 Fixing Guide
Сrеdit gоеs to bananashake!
Introduction
As I saw many people struggling with this problem, I decided to make a guide to cover this issue.
The game works on Windows 7 but it does not start out of the box.
If you try to run it from steam, it will not start, and if you try to run it from the root directory you will encounter a kernel32 error.
There is a fix however, that will solve your issue and you will be able to start and play the game.
Steps
- Back up/make a copy of tomb123.exe
- Download this modified Windows 7 fork:
OR
- Extract the archive’s contents into the game’s root folder containing tomb123.exe
- Open tomb123.exe in CFF Explorer that you can download from here.
- Click on “Import Directory” in the left pane, then click on “KERNEL32.dll” under “Module Name”.
- Find “GetOverlappedResultEx” in the lower panel, double click on its name, change it to “GetOverlappedResult” and then save the file.
- If you’re using the GOG version, delete steam_api64.dll or else you won’t be able to save the game or make any settings changes
Optional
- Add “-nolegal” as a shortcut launch parameter/Steam launch option to skip all of the startup stuff.
Once you have completed these steps, you will be able to play the Remastered version on your Windows 7 machine.
