Treatise Kwintat

This unlocks the Crimson Crusader background, which is a more advanced version of the Sandreider Free Sword default one.

If you want to play a paladin, this gift is right up your alley. Everything depends on being Honorable through Crimson Oath (Stasis Spirit is not included in the package).

You might ask yourself: “What is an honor-bound weapon?” And the answer to that one is quite cool – upon your initiation to the Crimson Crusade, you get to choose between a sword and a longsword as your oathblade. The weapon is Well-Made and Longsword has 5 sigil slots.

Your tier of paladin-hood is determined by your dedication to Mercy – you need flame at 10 to unlock all of them honorable abilities.

  • Courteous – An extra redraw on some social tests, does not stack with Intimidation or Guile.
  • Resilient Body (flame 6) – Gain +6 max HP.
  • Honorable Strength (flame 7) – While honorable, your honor-bound weapon deals +2 damage.
  • Honorable Charisma (flame 8) – While honorable, +2 redraws for applicable social tests.
  • Honorable Vigor (flame 9) – While honorable, offering food at shines heal you in addition to the usual effects.
  • Honorable Healing (flame 10) – While honorable, heal all possible HP when you become wounded.

Silver Seed

This unlocks the Silver Tree Hermit background, which allows you to be as close to a druid as you can get.

Just be careful talking to too many trees – their wisdom can more than our feeble minds have the capacity to hold.

A silver tree sprouts after you give the Branch quarterstaff to one of the clans or by critically succeeding at convincing the Djorn to help as far as I’ve seen.

Similarly to the Crusader above, you need 10 root magic to unlock all the skills. I had a decent amount, so I could note most of them fully.

  • Forest Stride – Ignore 1 Wilderness hardship and skip the next hardship upon encountering Wilderness.
  • Forest Harvest – In forests, automatically gain 1 snap root seed every day, up to 3 seeds total.
  • Forest Friendship – In forests, entering an area with 3 presence or less gives you the Forest Friend buff.
  • Cooking – Food keeps 50% longer and you heal 3 HP when cooking or preserving food.
  • High Mountain Climbing – An extra redraw on climbing tests and ignore a Cliff hardship once per rest.
  • Tracking – Extra redraws (multiple) on tracking tests and encounter more Prey on journeys.
  • Root Craft (root 10) – Will be reworked soon.

Fallen Star

This unlocks the Sky Summoner background, which is as close to a proper mage as you can get. All locked skills besides flame craft need up to 10 sky magic to unlock.

The devs said it falls out of the sky as an event after waking the sky Elemental, so as soon as a Fallen Star is found the right way.

  • Secret Paths (sky 6) – Ignore 1 Open Road, Watched or Guarded hardship per journey.
  • Summon Awe (sky 7)
  • Summon Blinking (sky 8)
  • Star Touched (sky 8) – An extra redraw on all lore and magic tests.
  • Summon Invisibility (sky 9)
  • Hidden Magic (sky 10)
  • Flame Craft (flame 10) – Will be reworked soon.

Marang Machinery

This unlocks the Tinkerer background, which seems on-par with Jabar Relic Hunter background.

I created the Wayfarer to check if there is anything fancy as far as Legacy goes, and there sort of is – restoring flow magic by up to 5 (1/1/3). It could be helpful if you want to make a second Tinkerer in a row and can’t find the flow Elemental. Overall – rather underwhelming compared to others.

  • Superior Parry (flow 6) – Parry attacks at a wider angle.
  • Flow Craft (flow 10) – Will be reworked soon.

Giant Turnip

This beauty gives a clan farming expertise, which unlocks the Turnip Farmer background. I find it hilarious. Had this as a requested feature for 2.0 and turns out it is already in the game!

  • Athletic Physique – An extra redraw for all physical tests.
  • Cooking – Food keeps 50% longer and you heal 3 HP when cooking or preserving food.
  • Forest Stride – Ignore 1 Wilderness hardship and skip the next hardship upon encountering Wilderness.
  • Guile – An extra redraw on some social tests.
  • Hardy – Ignore 1 Cold, Heat or Dry hardship on a journey, once per rest.
  • Resilient Body (flame 6) – Gain +6 max HP.
  • Root Craft (root 10).
