Wearing a root chest, stone golems with spike hands become easy. But be careful about the cultists and their fire spells, those really hurt with the fire vulnerability.

Sometimes if you’re feeling lucky you can just start mining down into the ground in a place you think seems “silvery” and you might just find a silver vein without even having the wishbone. Happens a lot more than you would think.

Bring 10 wood, 20 stone and a hoe. When you get You are being hunted, drop a workbench and raise yourself up on a terrain column with your hoe. Snipe the attacking wolves at your leisure.

For killing Moder I like digging out a silver vein near his/her spawning point. You can cover it over with stone blocks if you want, but Moder plows right thru them. Shoot Moder with your favorite arrows and bow as he tries to hit you under the silver ore. This keeps you far enough away so that you don’t have to melee at all.

If you’re trying to navigate a steep cliff, make a path with the hoe or pickaxe. The pickaxe makes a nice, neat path, but if it wears out, you can still level ground enough to not slide everywhere.

Also a tiny patch of snow on the side of a steep cliff, or a big rock sticking out of the side of a sheer cliff, is (usually) inaccessible to wolves and golems. Good tip if you’re stuck out there at night. Light a fire and park it for awhile (Have not tested this since the Unity update, so use with caution).

When you mine a silver vein don’t do it in the traditional way. First clean it and make it float and then you hit it once and it breaks all at once. It will save you A LOT of time.

Early in game you can Make a path of fire pits from your silver vain to the bottom of the mountain so you can stay warm and not get lost. Also carry and place fire pits when traveling in freezing climates to stay warm.

Right before the wolves attack they make a growling/barking sound. If you press the block button when you hear it its a near 100% guaranteed parry.

  • I know a 1-hand weapon + shield is the ‘meta’. But some 2 handed weapons shine in the mountain biome. The crystal battleaxe works wonders against the creatures in the frost caves. Use the secondary attack to stagger, and follow up with the normal attacks to kill.
  • The Iron Slegde can be used to easily defeat wolves and golems. Against wolves the AOE damage is incredibly useful and against golems you can use the terrain to hit them from places where they can’t hit you.
  • You can also use the Iron Sledge to find silver. Just hit the ground. Floating damage text will show you where there’s silver. No need for whishbone.
  • The stone ruins often spawn on beautiful flat ground. Perfect place for a mountain home.
  • Bring enough wood to make temporary beds and firepits under the overhangs of Frost Caves for shelter letting you sleep and get rested.
  • Get the wolf cape asap to protect from the freezing cold. Only need a workbench to craft it.
  • Eikthyr Power greatly helps traversing the mountains. Dock the boat as close to the mountain as possible for quick loading.
