Wildmender – Combat Guide

This is a short blurb about Combat in Wildmender as combat is rather limited for now.

Guide to Combat

Attack

There are several methods of attacking. The first that players gain access to are: the sickle and the mirror. Later options are: blazing seed, grasping seed, Flame Talisman, and Glowing Feather. Both Blazing and Grasping seeds require Seed’s Power to be crafted. Earthwright Chisel deals wraith damage as well, but could heavily damage your garden (verify function of blazing & grasping seeds).

Defense

The Mirror reflects incoming projectiles. The Sickle will also reflect once you’ve unlocked the associated memory. The reflection barrier will last longer if you hold the associated button instead of just pressing. The sickle’s reflection will allow for slow movement while the Mirror will not allow movement at all. The mirror can also do a area blast stun once upgraded to at least Crystal Mirror or better.

It’s also suggested that players not stand still in combat. Staying in motion makes it harder for the enemy to hit you. Additionally, players may dodge with a dash by pressing Left, Right, or Back and tapping Jump.

The Time Needle can accelerate and slow time within an area for a short period. These abilities can be used to slow enemies down and speed players up. Reverse Time can also be used to gain some drastic and almost instantaneous distance.

Aerial Combat

Once players have been given the Windcloak, they may choose to float on the wind and rain down projectiles upon the enemy. As Wraiths do not currently have the ability to fly, players may stay relatively safe if they have enough mana as the Windcloak can be costly to keep active. It’s more of a defensive tactic, but can be hard to aim and hit enemies.

Garden Defense / Combat

Once players have progressed far enough, Wraiths will periodically attack them. A warning will be issued when a Wraith Raid is about to happen. Players may employ a combination of Sigils and Plants that can act as non-player defenders to try and keep themselves safe from invading wraiths. More information can be found over in the other our guides.
