Your Chronicle – Quick Guide to Fighting

Fighting Guide for New Players

This guide will mainly be separated into a few parts such as setup, the party, the skills, the different places to fight, equipment and formation swapping.

Setup

  • Regardless of whether you’ll be fighting in dungeons or bosses, you’ll want to have as much damage as possible. The key here is to kill the enemy before getting killed, as you’ll never try to tank one or more hits. You’ll basically want to be a glass cannon: hit hard, break easily. Therefore, you’ll want to have as much damage as you can, from every source you can get.
  • For that matter, make sure you have familiar routine as lesser devil / greater demon, will routine for stats%, warrior routine in stats% (and attack speed if needed), envy’s body as your selected strategy, your best stats title, and most important, gluttony. This will be your main factor is whether or not you can go through a dungeon or boss. If there are things you haven’t unlocked yet, it’s okay.

Party

  • Now, for your party: You want to have as much stats% summon as you can in your party, as they will increase your damage. You will later on unlock matk% summon too, which will also greatly increase your damage. Make sure to also use some summons that grant special effect to elements (silver scale dragon and scarlet dragon early game, fire drake endgame). As for which composition is the best, you’ll have to search it yourself, as it depends on what level your summons are and how seeded they are. But knowing which comp is better is easy, as you just need to look at one specific summon’s stats (party stats, not core stats) to see which composition has the greater results.
  • You’ll want to use most new summons you unlock, as they have better stats than the ones in the previous areas.

Skills

  • Some skills have little icons next to them (Penetrate or AoE for example). Those are additional effects, and their effects can be seen in the “additional effects” tab in the top right of your party/equipment tab. But to make things easier to understand, for fights you’ll mainly want Penetrate for the +50% damage (cumulative) or AoE for the +50% damage (cumulative). These 2 are the “pure damage” effect, but you’ll also want to use ATK Attachment, which provides a 50% damage boost to the next summon’s attack. Do know, that these additional effects are ONLY active when the corresponding formation is active (more info in the additional effect tooltip in game)!
  • At first, you’ll mainly want to use physical attacks as the skills from warrior school are very good (if you choose another school, regret your choice and keep going), and change to magic skills (aka spells) after gaining the advanced magic from the desert. At that point, the ideal food will be mushroom sautees (but if you really don’t like to farm for shrooms, wine egg olives and fish are good too).

Boss Fight

  • Most of the times, you’ll want to have your best damage dealer in the 5th slot, with the 4 summons before with quick attacks, and ordered from the weakest (first) to the strongest (last), so the high damage summon can quickly attack and kill the boss fast, with the weak summons dying first.
  • Skill-wise, you’ll want to have your highest damaging one (relative to your highest stat (patk/matk)) with as much AoE or Penetrate as possible (either through the spell itself or through equipment). You’ll also want to have ATK Attachment on the 4th summon so that it can buff the 5th summon (damage dealer).
  • For some bosses who buffs themselves quickly, or have long preparation phase before nuking everything, you’ll want to either have your damage summon in 1st place with AoE or Penetrate, or in second place with a buffing summon in 1st place (with ATK Attachment on) (see formation swapping below).
  • If using magic skills, make sure to choose a skill that is more powerful against the enemy’s element.
  • Make sure to check the corresponding area’s channel’s pins for further information and tips for fighting the boss: some may have special characteristics.

Dungeon Fight

  • Just like in boss fights, you’ll want to have your strongest damage dealer in 5th slot, with the 4 summons before with quick attacks, and ordered from the weakest (first) to the strongest (last), so the high damage summon can quickly attack the mobs fast, with the weak summons dying first.
  • Skill-wise, you’ll want the fastest spells for the summons 1-4 and the highest damaging skill for the 5th summon that is fastest than any enemy’s attack’s speed! You’ll want to have as much AoE or Penetrate as possible, as they provides a significant increase to your damage.
  • When you encounter a new dungeon, your priority is to get new summons from it. In that scenario, your goal will mainly be to be able to kill at least one enemy, until they drop their research. In that case, you most likely still want to have your summons 1-4 with fast attacks, with the 5th having the strongest attack.
  • Due to the length of the fights, formation swapping is useless here
  • If you find yourself against an enemy from the 2nd dungeon if you’re in the first dungeon of that area, you just have bad luck and may need to restart the dungeon. To avoid having to wait 3 minutes for the formation to be off cooldown again, you may want to make a save before the fight, and loading it if you didn’t succeed.

Tournament

In tournament your party order won’t matter as you’ll be inside alone. So make sure to have lots of stats boosting summons in your team so that their passive helps you. For skills, you’ll need to try and see which ones allows you to either kill the guy before he attacks, or tank one hit then kill him, or tank 2 then kill him, etc. See what works best, with of course as much AoE or Penetrate as you can, with formation active.

Equipment

  • Once unlocked, equipment can be bought from Astral world, then crafted in their own menu in the party tab.
  • Every equipment gives a passive effect, which increases based on the equipment level
  • Every equipment has active effects (additional effect), which only provide the benefit to the summon wearing the equipment. This effect is unlocked through upgrading the equipment level with mana crystals (5 needed for the first effect)
  • Stone spear grants Penetrate at level 5, Magic wand provides AoE at level 5, and spirit orb grants ATK Attachment at level 5. The effects unlocked through further upgrading are however random and selected through a pool specific to the equipment (read its description to know). These can be rerolled once the equipment is upgrade 50 times.

Formation Swapping

Mainly used during boss fights. You typically start a fight with the friendly formation activated and until the summon that has ATK Attachment attacks. Once it performs its attack, the friendly formation will grant that effect to the next summon. You typically want that next summon to have AoE or Penetrate for greater damage amplification. So, once the previous summon has finished its attack and before the next summon finishes its own attack, you want to go in the formation tab above, and switch to the corresponding formation (physical for Penetrate and magical for AoE). This switching can only happen once, as the formation that is being switched will thus enter cooldown mode.

Useful Tips

How to Get Advanced Magical Spells From Desert?

To get more advanced magical spells, you’ll have to get to the desert and do the quest line of the Antique Collector. Since you will have to get a certain amount of rare metal, grinding it by killing golden slime in demon king party will make it easier (need to have golden slime in your active party when fighting dk). At the end of it, you’ll be able to purchase 4 elemental spells.

Do keep in mind that you’ll need to buy the spells from the astral world during the same reincarnation that you unlock them, or you’ll have to do the whole quest line again to unlock them once more. They require you to reach rank 50 and cost 250 inspiration each. Getting the water spell first is advised since it will be used to make the fight against king cobra easier.

From this point onwards, magical attack is favored compared to physical attack for killing bosses. The advanced spell you’ll gain will mostly be used against bosses and other quicker spells (usually from the wind category) to take care of normal mobs. You will also gain dried fruits in desert that increase matk extremely well.

Of course, this is just an advice, and everyone is free to play how they see fit.

What Elemental Spell Should I Use Against My Opponents

Elemental spells deals more or less damage depending on what element the enemy is (e.g. fire is weaker against a water enemy).

Your damage is the vertical axis while the enemy resistance (type) is the horizontal axis.
