Handy Tip: Common robots take 100% more damage from explosives. They also take lots of damage from melee.

Gunner Primaries

Minigun: Pick accuracy in T1. One of the T5 fire mods. Note that on-fire may not even proc on robots with normal minigun builds. Burning Hell OC is most likely the best candidate for dealing with robots, but you have to be really close up to get its primary feature which may not happen very often; you’re likely going to use it as utility to exploit T5 fire mods.

Hurricane: Use any of the OCs with homing (ignore minelayer and rocket barrage). Pick up weakpoint damage or AoE damage if not confident in hitting weakpoints (suck at leading targets). If using Plasma Burster Missiles, I recommend building AoE as you may not even get secondary weakpoint hits. Jet Fuel Homebrew heavily relies on weakpoint hits, but due to increased velocity you may need to do some janky leading against targets, so aiming may be weird with it.

Autocannon: LOL. Don’t. If you have to use AC, then I suggest using Carpet Bomber. You are NOT going to be reliably hitting weakpoints any time soon, so don’t bother. If you really have to: Build for AoE and use the Carpet Bomber OC. Also one of those rare times where I would seriously suggest taking the accuracy mod, as robot profiles are slim. (Big Bertha for AoE and accuracy also works if you’re attempting weakpoints, but it’s just weird build for most people.)

Gunner Secondaries

Bulldog: Single target with weakpoints with most OCs. Six Shooter can use both a single-target weakpoint build or an Explosive Rounds build (take both ammo mods for this) if not confident with aim. (Magic Bullets is a YMMV case, may be good in small tunnels against patrollers but it’s not good in open areas.)

BRT: You want to maximize shots on weakpoints. Build Recoil and Weakpoint damage. T1 spread is optional, but recommended (especially at longer ranges). 3-shot burst recommended for less ammo wastage due to recoil and spread; Longer Burst usually ends up with the final 3 shots missing from recoil/spread. Most OCs pending personal preference. (Avoid Lead Spray because it’s bad at hitting weakpoints due to spread. Micro Flechettes generally not recommended because of low DPS.)

Coil Gun: Hellfire recommended as the best option, especially in conjunction with your primary. Mole also a strong contender if you can line up good weakpoint hits and minmax, though you may not have that option all of the time. (Any build can work, but anything that’s not Hellfire relies on Weakpoint hits.)
