Dimraeth – Crossbow Crit Build Guide

Crossbow Crit Build

This ranged build focuses on maximizing crossbow auto attack damage through critical hits while maintaining Bleed and Poison on enemies to activate additional damage bonuses.

Build Concept

The main goal is to increase crossbow auto attack damage by stacking critical chance and critical damage.

The build also uses Bleed and Poison to activate damage bonuses against enemies affected by those conditions. It uses Bramble Fan and Seed Bomb to apply these effects, while Blackblood Tempo converts Poison to Bleed. The pet also helps spread Bleed, allowing Bleed and Poison to remain active on most enemies most of the time.

The build uses:

  • Crossbow for primary auto attacks
  • Bramble Fan to apply Bleed
  • Seed Bomb to apply Poison
  • Blackblood Tempo in the skill tree to convert Poison to Bleed
  • A pet that helps spread Bleed
  • Blightseed equipment

Because the spells come from spellbooks and do not need to be upgraded in the skill tree, skill points can instead be spent on damage nodes.

Skill Tree

The Human Shadow skill tree provides a good amount of critical chance and critical damage.

The general approach is:

  1. Take critical chance and critical damage nodes first.
  2. Then take as many of the 6% to 12% damage nodes against Bleeding and Poisoned enemies as possible.
  3. The lower-left nodes can be considered if they can be reached without sacrificing too much critical chance.

With the current gear, the build has approximately 80% critical chance against Bleeding enemies.

An alternative setup was tested by lowering critical chance by 12% to reach the lower-left section of the tree. This provided a 10% increase in damage against Bleeding enemies, but the tradeoff was not considered worthwhile.

The damage nodes against Poisoned enemies in the lower-left section also provide less damage than the corresponding side nodes.

Gameplay

The basic sequence is:

  1. Open with Seed Bomb to create Poison pools.
  2. Use Bramble Fan to apply Bleed.
  3. Follow up with crossbow auto attacks.

The Poison pools last long enough to spawn many pools. The Blightseed set bonus causes Seed Bomb to throw clusters.

Auto attacks then add Bleed through Blackblood Tempo in the skill tree.

Bramble Fan and the pet help keep Bleed active on more enemies, allowing you to switch targets while maintaining the build’s Bleed related benefits.

Seed Bomb

Seed Bomb provides several useful effects for this build:

  • Its explosions knock enemies back.
  • Its Poison pools enable fire explosions when ignited.
  • Igniting the pools creates burning pools.
  • This can apply Burn stacks and Poison stacks.

Seed Bomb was chosen instead of Erupt because Erupt has a longer cast animation, costs Stamina, and has no range.

Crossbow Advantages

The crossbow provides several useful properties for this setup:

  • Ranged attacks
  • No long cast animations
  • Arrows can shoot through obstacles such as trees, walls, stones, and cliffs

Resource Management

The skills use Concentration, leaving the build with full Stamina for attacks and dodges.

Concentration can be refilled easily with Concentration on Hit, which is easy to find on Blightseed equipment.

Gear

The Blightseed set is easy to farm. The current setup uses Blightseed amulets and emblems.

The gear is not fully upgraded.

Stat allocation may change, as the build has been tested with different stat setups, but the current setup works.

Benefits for Melee Teammates

Because the build does not consume Bleed and continues generating it, melee teammates can benefit from having Bleed maintained on enemies.

Tested Skill Tree Alternative

The lower-left section of the skill tree was tested by reducing critical chance.

The result was:

  • 12% lower critical chance
  • 10% increased damage against Bleeding enemies

This tradeoff was not considered worthwhile.

The damage nodes against Poisoned enemies in the lower-left section also provide less damage than the side nodes.
