Dimraeth – The One True Water Mage Minotaur Brawler Build Guide

The One True Water Mage Minotaur Brawler Build

This Minotaur Brawler build focuses on strong damage, ranged damage potential, and high stun buildup. Its playstyle revolves around repeatedly casting Water Surge while maintaining enough Concentration to sustain the rotation.

Why Minotaur Brawler?

Water damage scales with blunt and physical damage, making a class that is suited to heavily stacking Strength a strong choice for this build.

Minotaur Brawler is particularly useful because it has a high concentration of Concentration-on-Hit nodes close together. The build relies on repeatedly casting a spell with a 3 to 4 second cooldown and a 1 second cast time, so you need to regenerate 20 Concentration within 2 to 3 seconds to maintain the rotation.

Minotaur Brawler has 14 Concentration-on-Hit nodes close together, plus another 3 from a charm. This makes it particularly capable of sustaining the build’s main damage spell compared with other races.

Brawler also has access to many critical hit nodes, especially against bleeding targets. This build reaches 70% crit rate and 164% crit damage when hitting a bleeding target.

Drawbacks

The build is heavily reliant on keeping usable water pools available for damage.

Poison can disable your water pools:

  • If a poisoned player steps on your water pool, it turns into poison.
  • If your water pool touches a poisoned pool, it also turns into poison.
  • You cannot use a pool after it has turned into poison.
  • Ice Mages can freeze your pools, preventing you from using them and greatly reducing your damage.

The build is also not recommended for leveling unless you can reach the Concentration-on-Hit nodes.

Gear

Required Set

6-piece Tidestorm is required for the build. Its 33% reduction to Water Surge’s cooldown is irreplaceable.

Tidestorm pieces drop from Water Dryads. A decent number can be found on the path to the Corrupted Treant.

Additional Gear

You can use combinations of blunt damage boosters, including:

  • 3-piece Bullheart + 3-piece Erupting
  • 5-piece Gorehorn for additional damage against bleeding targets
  • 6-piece Ironfist, although it only drops from a single chest in the Corrupted Thicket

For amulets and emblems, prioritize:

  • Crit rate
  • Crit damage
  • Physical damage
  • Attack damage
  • Blunt damage
  • Associated piercing stats

Get Concentration-on-Hit and Concentration on your charm if possible.

Skills

The core skills are:

  • Water Surge: Main damage skill and the primary workhorse of the build.
  • Erupt: Used to regenerate water pools when starting a fight or when they are consumed during combat.
  • Frenzied Slashes: Bleed skill with no stat requirement and a low cooldown.

The build also uses:

  • Jab: Adds a physical damage bonus for 2 seconds.
  • Cornu Charge: Provides movement and some additional damage and can be replaced.
  • Shockwave: A tested alternative to Cornu Charge that is suitable for both AoE and single-target situations.

Combat Rotation

Starting a Fight

Start the fight by fully charging Erupt to create water pools.

The main rotation is:

  1. Cast Water Surge.
  2. Follow it with Jab.
  3. Repeat the sequence.

Use Jab after Water Surge because the spears take time to hit. They do not snapshot buffs when cast and instead use the buffs active when they hit, so using Jab afterward provides better buff coverage.

During Combat

Use your bleed skill on cooldown or whenever you are planning to deal damage.

Use Erupt if you run out of usable water pools.

Basic attacks are also decent filler attacks and should be used whenever possible.

The build can deal damage at range, but maintaining ranged damage requires some hit-and-run movement. When melee combat is dangerous, dash in for a swing and then dash back out.

Pet

The build uses Rage Cat for its large damage boost. The build prioritizes killing enemies sooner rather than adding defensive benefits.
