Basic Equipment Setup & How I Play – Warden Drummond

This is how I set up for providing armoured support & some part time medic in a Drummond.

In my inventory I equip the following items:

  • Medics Uniform
  • Hammer
  • Binoculars – I use these to be able to keep an eye on the vehicles I’m supporting plus to keep an eye out for flanking moves.
  • Gas Mask @100/100 obviously
  • Radio – I’m constantly checking the map for enemy movement on or flanks
  • First Aid Kit
  • Trauma Kit
  • 10 x Bandages
  • 5 x Plasma
  • 60 x Bmats

This brings my weight at 99% – in good weather. When it’s raining you have to carry less bmats on you since you get get heavy very fast. This is usually around 15 or so.

In my Drummond I stock the following items:

  • 400 Bmats – reduced to 325 if you want to come in under 100% weight.
  • 1 Wrench.
  • 1 spare Medics Uniform – makes life easier and faster to run back to the LUV to grab than get one form the base you spawned from – plus there’s not always a uniform there.
  • 3 Cans of Diesel – for refuelling those that use it.

Collie players will have to adjust due to the reduced slots in their Utility vehicles.

During quiet times in between action I restock – if I can do so further back away from the front lines I will do so, so as not to take bmats away from the builders.

When supporting a push down a road I will position myself behind the tanks around 15m away, since should they begin to pull back I can move faster in reverse on the road and not get in their way.

If they are pulling back for repairs I will move off road and to the right or left of the vehicle to be repaired. Never park directly behind them unless you are in a very safe and secure area. If you park directly behind them under artillery fire and you die, there’s a good chance that the LUV may become disabled and you are therefore blocking the line of retreat for the tanks etc.

Sometimes it’s not possible to park to the side due to being in a bottle neck or having multiple armoured vehicle either side, in this instance I would park further back so if I were to get disabled it give the tanks etc room to be able to move around the LUV.

When on the front line I tend to prioritise ‘real’ tanks over proto’s since the proto’s are drain on resources. The only occasions where I would prioritise a proto is if a very experienced tank crew in in control of it.

Never ever give armoured crews access to your LUV, they will drain you of your bmats in next to no time. If you are carrying 40-60 bmats in your inventory, split the stack and give them half of what you are carrying. 30 or less bmats – drop the whole stack.

After making repairs to 100% I generally use emotes salute and go forward to let them know they are fixed.

There are times when you run into a bit of bad luck and lose your LUV, try if possible to have at least one spare close by.

When you get flanked by tanks, sometimes you have to sacrifice yourself to help give your own tanks some time to react. It’s also fun to get behind enemy tanks to block their retreat, this can go either way, but you look like a hero whether it works or not.

One last thought, since you have your first aid kit, help out the medics.

For those who like their promotions, you’ll be surprised as to how many commends you receive just by repairing.

Have fun out there!
