Plains Pro Tips

Сrеdit gоеs to Twinkies!

Dig a pit; trap some Lox; tame them. Then dig an exit and put up the gates that require iron and tar. Feed your Lox. When you have about 6 of them, strap on a saddle and ride 3 or 4 of them onto the plains. Repeat until you have a big herd guarding your local village/castle/safe house. BTW, the serpent spear is excellent for hauling the Lox into the pit.

When starting out, don’t be outside your base without full food and rested bonuses, and don’t go out at night. When exploring, take out the largest enemies with the bow first, and don’t let yourself get trapped anywhere.

Surround the edges of your base with workbenches to prevent nearby spawns (unless you want nearby spawns), raise a terrain wall or have large structures inside to avoid LOS with deathsquitos, this basically makes your base raid-proof, but it can take a lot of stone and time, but you’re spending that time anyway, so who cares?

Find those new farming resources asap.

The primary threat in the plains is the relentless onslaught of death squitoes. It’s an undeniable truth that more Vikings die to these airborne menaces than any other creature in the plains. Equipping root armor is essential, as it provides a bonus against pierce damage, proving particularly effective against the lethal death squitoes.

Begin your strategy by establishing a portal, or if you prefer the hardcore approach without portals, set up a sturdy base. Your initial focus should be on acquiring flax and barley, so diligently explore the surrounding villages and eliminate fulings using a bow or any means necessary. The goal is to secure flax and barley swiftly, allowing you to establish a flax farm promptly.

Once you’ve crafted padded armor, navigating the plains becomes more manageable, and you can then embark on enjoyable activities like taming lox or pursuing other interests.
