Garuda Guide (2026) – Builds, Abilities, Augments, Arcanes & Companions
Passive
Garuda gains up to 100% bonus damage per kill. If no melee weapon is equipped, she uses her Talons instead. The passive’s damage bonus is multiplicative with other sources of damage and affects Garuda’s abilities and weapons only.
Abilities
Dread Mirror
Garuda pounces on an enemy, instantly killing them if they are at or below 40% Health + Shields. The attack also deals damage based on the target’s maximum Health as Slash damage.
Afterward, Garuda creates a frontal, invulnerable mirror that absorbs incoming damage. The absorbed damage is stored in a Dread Heart, which can be charged to increase its damage before being thrown as an explosive projectile. The projectile deals high damage and has 100% Status Chance.
Dread Mirror can be recast to refresh its duration and can be used while airborne.
Tips:
- Dread Mirror provides an invulnerability frame (I-frame).
- The mirror is front-facing and follows the camera.
- It can block projectiles, self-stagger, and most AoE attacks, although there are exceptions.
- The ability can be animation-canceled. Hold Dread Mirror to charge the throw, then very quickly press Seeking Talons while continuing to hold Dread Mirror. This technique is recommended for PC, as it can be difficult or potentially impossible to perform consistently with a controller.
Blood Altar
Garuda impales an enemy, disabling them and creating a healing aura around the target.
The aura restores missing Health per second to Garuda and allies within range. The amount of healing scales with Ability Strength, the radius scales with Ability Range, and the duration scales with Ability Duration.
Up to 3 Blood Altars can be active at once.
Tips:
- Healing from multiple Blood Altars stacks.
- All damage dealt to an enemy affected by Blood Altar is dealt to the target at once when the ability ends or Garuda cancels it.
Bloodletting
Garuda sacrifices up to 50% of her maximum Health to fully cleanse Status Effects and restore a percentage of her maximum Energy.
The amount of Energy restored scales with Ability Efficiency. Garuda cannot be reduced below 2 HP by Bloodletting.
Sacrificing less Health results in less Energy being restored.
Seeking Talons
Garuda charges and marks enemies in a wide cone, then releases homing talons that deal Slash damage. Damage scales with Ability Strength.
Marked enemies take damage from the talons. For a short duration, which scales with Ability Duration, all hits against marked enemies have a high chance to apply forced Slash procs, causing bleed damage.
Seeking Talons also provides an I-frame.
At approximately 134 to 135% Ability Strength, Seeking Talons reaches the threshold for 100% Slash Status Chance.
Augments
Dread Ward
Dread Ward grants Garuda a period of being unkillable when Dread Mirror kills an enemy. It can be purchased from the Red Veil and Steel Meridian Syndicates.
Blending Talons
Blending Talons adds an AoE explosion on cast and provides bonus Combo Chance against enemies affected by Slash procs. It can be purchased from the Red Veil and Steel Meridian Syndicates.
Blood Forge
Blood Forge reloads Garuda’s equipped weapon by a percentage when she uses Bloodletting. It can be purchased from the Red Veil and Steel Meridian Syndicates.
Archon Shards
Two Casting Speed Shards are highly useful on Garuda. Natural Talent is a good alternative during the early game.
Casting Speed is particularly useful because Garuda’s abilities have relatively long wind-up and casting times. It also allows her to charge more damage into Dread Heart more quickly and generally complements her playstyle.
Helminth Subsumes
Crowd Control subsumes such as Airburst and Fire Blast are not recommended.
Recommended options include:
- Roar
- Eclipse
- Nourish
Arcanes
Molt Reconstruct
Molt Reconstruct is a priority option if you are not using Garuda’s base kit or Gloom. It allows Garuda to create an effectively infinite feedback loop between Health and Energy.
Arcane Avenger
Arcane Avenger provides a flat Critical Chance bonus, allowing Garuda’s Blood Ball and Seeking Talons to benefit from Critical Hits.
It pairs particularly well with Tenacious Bond.
Arcane Arachne
Arcane Arachne is optional. Garuda’s Blood Ball is coded as both a weapon and an ability, allowing it to benefit from Arcane Arachne’s 150% multiplicative damage bonus. Pairing it with Eclipse or Roar can increase its damage further.
Molt Augmented
Provides additional Ability Strength. It is useful when running a subsume that benefits from Strength or when the build otherwise lacks sufficient Strength.
Arcane Concentration
Increases Ability Duration. Since Garuda is a caster-focused Warframe, she can take advantage of this Arcane frequently.
Arcane Circumvent
An optional defensive choice. It is generally unnecessary, but can be used if desired.
Arcane Aegis
Can be useful for a less caster-focused Garuda who does not cast abilities as frequently.
However, Garuda’s mod slots are already heavily occupied. A typical setup requires at least two Range mods, Primed Flow, Duration, and Strength.
Arcane Hotshot
Not particularly reliable, but can allow Garuda’s weapons to critically hit when using a Hound or Diriga. Its interaction with Blood Ball should be verified for the specific setup.
Arcane Bellicose
Can be useful when running a Health Tank setup.
Arcane Crepuscular
Can be very effective when paired with Shade or a Huras Kubrow to take advantage of invisibility for additional Critical damage.
Arcane Persistence

Companions
Tenacious Bond can be particularly useful on companions when Garuda has a source of flat Critical Chance.
Wyrm
Wyrm can provide an additional Status cleanse, which can be useful when Garuda cannot pay attention to her Status Effects or cannot cast her abilities because of a particular situation.
This is generally considered overkill for Garuda, but remains an option.
Nautilus
Nautilus provides enemy grouping, which is useful for Garuda.
It can also easily reach the threshold for Reinforced Bond, which can be useful when using Garuda as a weapons platform.
Shade / Huras Kubrow
Both companions provide invisibility, allowing Garuda to take advantage of Arcane Crepuscular.
Shade is more specialized, while the Huras Kubrow can also contribute to nuking.
These companions are best suited to a heavily caster-focused Garuda setup.
Diriga / Hound
Diriga is useful for priming enemies, while a Hound can contribute to nuking.
Both can potentially activate Arcane Hotshot. The interaction with Garuda’s Blood Ball should be verified for the current setup.
Smeeta Kavat
Smeeta Kavat provides additional random buffs. Its Critical Chance buff also applies to Garuda’s Blood Ball, potentially allowing it to deal significantly more Critical damage.
Dethcube
Dethcube is not recommended for Garuda because it provides little benefit to her.
Since Garuda can maintain effectively unlimited Energy, Dethcube’s Energy-related utility provides little additional value.
Additional Information
Dread Ward and Smite
Dread Ward can be paired with Smite to achieve the effect of an execution with Dread Mirror more easily.
Blood Forge Weapon Choices
Blood Forge is particularly useful with weapons that have very slow reload times, such as:
- Trumna
- Tenet Envoy
It is also useful with weapons that reload pellet by pellet, such as the Felarx.
Crowd Control and Casting Restrictions
Garuda can have difficulty casting her abilities while affected by certain forms of hard Crowd Control or while being ragdolled.
When playing Garuda in public missions, be mindful of allied abilities and enemy effects that can interfere with her casting, including:
- Khora’s Strangledome
- Nidus’ Larva
- Mag’s Pull
- Hydroid’s Tidal Wave
- Hydroid’s Tentacles
- Enemies being lifted, ragdolled, or knocked down
However, certain Warframe abilities can allow Garuda to freely cast Dread Mirror even while controlling enemies. Examples include:
- Ensnare
- Condemn
- Well of Life
