Wildmender – All NPCs Guide

List of All NPCs with Descriptions

In Wildmender, there are a few NPC characters outside enemies. This is largely due to the tragedy that befell the game world. All of these are friendly and for the most part will not attack players.

The Guide Spirit – Vidyas

The first NPC players encounter. They are a living embodiment of knowledge and serve as a kind of guide to assist players in their journey. When first encountered they are a fraction of themselves. Having been robbed of their memories and knowledge, they can only provide limited support. Their capacity and ability to help is increased as their fragments are gathered. They remember new techniques and items that could help the players survive better in the ruined world. Due to the open-world aspect of the game, only Naia and Arx have a set order in interacting with them.

Deities

There are 5 main deities in Wildmender. Four of them preside over a different quadrant of the game map. The fifth has no set region. Each will be interacted with by players as they progress through the story. As of now, there is no “canon” pronunciation of

Naia

Deity of Rivers and Oaks and symbolized by the image of a Tiger. She is the first god that players interact with, and is the reason that the players exist to begin with. She revives the Child (Players) in an attempt to bring back the good of humankind in spite of the terrible evil that their predecessors left.

Stryge

Deity of Magic and Storms and symbolized by a four-winged bird of prey. She is one of the secondary gods that players interact with. She is a rather grumpy goddess, but warms to the Player after having been freed. She has a great distrust of humans, but appreciates the assistance of the players.

Gleb

Deity of Knowledge and Earth and symbolized by a great Bee and its’ hive. They are one of the secondary gods that players interact with. They are a community-loving god, but is quite sad with the destruction of their cities and the passing of their priests and scholars.

Oros

Deity of Time and Stars and symbolized by a coiling snake. They are supposed to be the last of the four that players interact with, but can be interacted with as a secondary deity. They first interact with players when they enter the Mountains region of the map as a voice bidding them to come to their temple. Interactions with this deity are largely cryptic as they interact with time in a completely different way than other gods or even the player.

Arx

Deity of Cycles and Change and symbolized by a kneeling Cervidae (Deer, elk, etc.). They’re stylized as the trickster god. They did not take part in the tragedy that befell the world, but they did know about it. They were also quite upset that the march of change was halted. They enlighten the player on the secondary functions of each of the other gods, or the sides that they chose to deny themselves or ignore.

Ghosts

There are many kinds of restless spirits that still inhabit the world. Most of them wander the world looking to impart their knowledge upon the player or to be laid to rest. Some give side-quests and some give remains to inter. The only exception to the spirits that provide Memories are the Gate Guards encountered in the Canyons.

Animals

Even though the world has been torn asunder, there are still some signs of life. Spirit Darters, Frogs, and Pangolin still roam the world. Each of these have a specific function and utility in the world on top of being wonderful companions and mascots.
