AION 2 – Spiritmaster Rotation & Macros Guide

Spiritmaster Guide: Rotation and Macros

Spiritmaster relies heavily on Ancient Spirit to deal damage. The rotation revolves around maintaining buffs, applying boss debuffs, cycling through elemental spirits, and using Elemental Fusion whenever it becomes available. Cooldown management and mana consumption are important factors when optimizing damage output.

Core Rotation

Follow these priorities during combat:

  1. Apply buffs before summoning Ancient Spirit. Use Spirit’s Benediction and Flame Blessing, if available, before summoning Ancient Spirit. Spirit stats are snapshotted when the spirits are summoned, so applying buffs beforehand increases their effectiveness.
  2. Apply Jointstrike: Corrode. Use this skill to debuff the boss and increase the damage your spirits deal to it.
  3. Cycle through the four elemental spirits. Continuously summon Water, Earth, Wind, and Fire Spirit to stack elements and enable Elemental Fusion.
  4. Use Dimensional Control after summoning a basic spirit. Each time you summon a basic spirit, Dimensional Control becomes available.
  5. Use Elemental Fusion after Ancient Spirit uses its skill. Each time Ancient Spirit uses its skill, Elemental Fusion becomes available.
  6. Weave additional skills into the rotation. Use Cold Shock, Combustion, Dimensional Control, and Jointstrike: Curse between your spirit summons and other abilities.

Stacking Buffs

Two important stacking effects contribute to Spiritmaster’s damage:

  • Cold Shock: The third skill in the chain grants a stacking attack buff, which can stack up to five times.
  • Element Unification: This passive grants a stacking critical damage buff each time you summon a spirit, up to five stacks.

Maintain these effects while following your regular rotation to maximize damage output.

Ancient Spirit Cooldown Management

Ancient Spirit has a 90-second cooldown and is the class’s most important ability. It enables the bulk of Spiritmaster’s damage, making its uptime a central part of the rotation.

When Ancient Spirit is unavailable, your damage output drops substantially. Limited cooldown reduction can make this downtime particularly noticeable. Dying shortly after summoning Ancient Spirit or mistiming certain boss mechanics can also cause a significant loss of DPS.

Global has substantially less access to cooldown reduction and, to some extent, combat speed than the Taiwanese and Korean versions of the game.

With best-in-slot gear, wings, Arcana, and other available options, Global Spiritmasters can reach approximately 19-21% cooldown reduction. By comparison, the Taiwanese and Korean versions can reach around 34% without Illusion Arcana or close to 40% with it.

This difference means Ancient Spirit has considerably more downtime on Global. Its cooldown may also stop aligning with Spirit’s Benediction, making buff timing more difficult.

To reduce the downtime as much as possible, use level 16 Rapid Scattershot during boss staggers.

Mana Management

Spiritmaster is a mana-intensive class. The lack of Wisdom on Global means less mana reduction for skills, making sustained combat more demanding.

Using mana potions is almost essential at this stage. The four-spirit rotation consumes considerable mana, so players who struggle to maintain their mana should consider the three-spirit macro option. Its DPS loss is minimal.

Macro Usage

Macros are not required to play Spiritmaster, but they can provide the best damage output by automating parts of the rotation.

Macro performance depends on several factors:

  • Skill changes and balance patches: Macros may need adjustments when skills change.
  • Ping: High latency can negatively affect macro performance.
  • Frame rate: Low or fluctuating FPS can reduce macro stability, particularly with external macro software.
  • Skill Queue settings: Different settings may produce different results, so testing both options is recommended where applicable.

Three rotation options are available:

OptionMacro systemSpirit summonsDestructionRecommended use
Option 1: In-game macroIn-game onlyFour spiritsManualPlayers who want a stable setup without external software
Option 2: External macroExternal software and in-game macroFour spiritsAutomatically charged and usedPlayers whose systems can reliably run external macros
Option 3: Three-spirit macroIn-game macroThree spiritsManualPlayers who have difficulty managing mana

Options 1 and 2 perform similarly, although Option 2 generally produces slightly better results. Option 1 is more suitable for players with low or fluctuating FPS because it does not depend on external macro software.

Option 1: In-Game Macro, Four Spirits

This setup uses only the in-game macro system. It is suitable for players who experience frame rate issues or prefer not to use external macro software.

Skill Queue can be enabled or disabled according to preference. Test both settings to determine which works better for your system.

Rebind the keys as needed to match this layout.

Usage Instructions

  • Hold both left and right mouse buttons to weave Cold Shock into the macro rotation.
  • Use mana potions as needed because the four-spirit rotation is mana-intensive.
  • Apply buffs manually before summoning Ancient Spirit. Buffs are not included in the macro and must be activated separately.
  • Hold Spirit’s Benediction until Ancient Spirit is available again.
  • Use Jointstrike: Destruction manually and charge it to the maximum level.
  • If Rapid Scattershot is level 16, use it during boss staggers to reduce cooldowns.

Option 2: External Macro, Four Spirits

This setup combines the in-game macro system with external mouse software, such as Razer Synapse or Logitech G Hub.

It uses Skill Queue set to Off and automatically uses Jointstrike: Destruction at maximum charge. External macros may not execute correctly if your frame rate is low or unstable.

Jointstrike: Destruction

Jointstrike: Destruction is a charged skill. To charge it to level 3, the key must be held down. This setup automatically uses Destruction at maximum charge.

Usage Instructions

  • Set Skill Queue to Off.
  • Configure your external macro to work with the in-game macro and the listed keybinds.
  • Use Elemental Fusion through its assigned keybind.
  • Ensure the external macro runs reliably at your current frame rate.

Option 3: Three-Spirit Macro

Use this option if you cannot manage the mana consumption of the four-spirit rotation. The DPS loss is minimal compared with the four-spirit setup.

This option uses the in-game macro system. The external macro configuration from Option 2 can also be adjusted to follow a similar three-spirit rotation.

Usage Instructions

  • Hold both left and right mouse buttons to weave Cold Shock into the rotation.
  • Use Jointstrike: Destruction manually and charge it to the maximum level.
  • Use level 16 Rapid Scattershot during boss staggers to reduce cooldowns.
  • Monitor mana consumption and use mana potions when necessary.

Buff and Ancient Spirit Macro

This macro can be used alongside any of the three rotation options.

It combines Spirit’s Benediction, Flame Blessing, if used, and Ancient Spirit on a single keybind. This helps activate the buffs and summon Ancient Spirit as quickly as possible.

Manual inputs may not register immediately when holding down the rotation macro key, so combining these abilities on one keybind can make the sequence more reliable.

Configure the macro in Razer Synapse or the appropriate macro software, then assign it to key 5.

Use this macro to activate the relevant buffs and summon Ancient Spirit together. Ensure the buffs are applied before the summon so the spirits benefit from the stat snapshot.

PVP Tips

The Spiritmaster is a relatively durable sustained-damage class with two main approaches to PvP. You can focus on defense, using strong sustain and damage reduction to prolong fights, or adopt a burst-oriented playstyle built around Spirit Joint Attacks.

Stigma Options

Predicting how PvP will develop during Season 1 on Global is difficult, so the following options serve as general recommendations rather than a definitive setup.

Stigma slots are extremely limited during Season 1, with only four slots available. This requires sacrifices in some areas when choosing your setup. The recommendations below assume that stigmas are at or near maximum level.

Spirit’s Benediction and Ancient Spirit are non-negotiable and should always be included.

General

  • Kaisinel’s Power: Provides a reasonable amount of status effect chance and resistance.
  • Proxy: Offers good survivability.

Burst Damage

  • Corrode and Destruction: Using Corrode, followed by Destruction and then Corrode again, can be extremely dangerous to opponents.

Defensive

  • Siphon: Provides a self-heal and a substantial shield.
  • Proxy: Combining Proxy with Siphon makes the Spiritmaster highly durable.

Buff Removal and Crowd Control

  • Seize Magic: Removes the target’s buffs and applies Seal starting at level 10.

Not Recommended

Some stigma options provide little value or do not work well in practice. With only four available slots, prioritize the options that offer the greatest benefits for your chosen playstyle.

Crowd Control

Why Fear Is Often Ineffective

Players familiar with the original Aion may expect Cry of Terror, the Spiritmaster’s area-of-effect fear, to be a core PvP ability. However, neither Cry of Terror nor the single-target fear Soul’s Cry is commonly used in the current Korean and Taiwanese server meta.

Fear has been largely ineffective for a long time because of several limitations:

  • Defiance: Targets can use Defiance to counter fear.
  • Limited crowd control: Spiritmasters do not have enough crowd control to reliably bait opponents into wasting Defiance before attempting to apply fear.
  • Low base application chance: Fear does not have a particularly high chance to land.
  • Immediate counterplay: Even when fear succeeds, opponents can counter it with Defiance.
  • Better alternatives: Other abilities generally offer more useful options.

Fear During Early Progression

Fear may be more effective during the early stages of Global Season 1 because players will have little status effect resistance. As a result, fear may land more frequently than it does on established Korean and Taiwanese servers.

Its effectiveness is expected to change as players acquire better gear and build up the appropriate stats. Fear may therefore be worth considering early on, but its usefulness is likely to decline as players improve their status effect resistance.

Earth Spirit and Taunt

As players progress, Earth Spirit becomes an important alternative to fear.

Earth Spirit has a chance to taunt a target when it uses its skill. In PvP, taunt forces the affected target to attack the entity applying the effect and move toward it. If Earth Spirit’s taunt succeeds, the target runs toward the spirit and cannot do anything else while the effect is active.

Unlike fear, this taunt cannot be countered with Defiance, making it a particularly useful crowd-control option.

PvP Gear and Stats on Global

Global has introduced numerous changes to stats associated with gear, titles, Daeva Boards, Genus, Divine stats, pets, and other systems. These changes make it difficult to recommend a specific PvP gear setup or stat distribution.

The implementation of the AP skin system also affects how Abyss Points can be spent. Since the stats provided by AP skins are relatively minor, prioritizing PvE gear while spending Abyss Points on stigma shards is strongly recommended.
