Honkai: Star Rail – Easter Eggs in Luocha’s Companion Mission

The Angler Mystery Is a Case Closed Meme and Welt Can’t Forget about His Robot

Сrеdit gоеs to Carry Meow!

Before I embark on Luocha’s Companion Mission, I expected that the plot would reveal a little bit about the reason why Luocha came to Xianzhou Luofu and the truth about what is inside the coffin.

Though none of the questions were answered after I read through the whole story, and the volume of it was not satisfying, I couldn’t stop laughing out loud because the story itself was too much fun. And if you dig into it, there are many Easter Eggs hidden inside.

At the beginning of the story, March 7th mentions “Angler’s Mystery.” The protagonist in this story, the angler, crossed the “Tea Society”, then drugged with some de-aging poison by two men in black clothing.

The angler who then turned back into a child pursued the Tea Society while solving all kinds of strange cases. The setting of the angler, the Tea Society, de-aging, and case-solving, is in fact, aligned with the plot of Case Closed. The Angler’s Mystery is indeed a Case Closed meme.

Maybe some of you missed some of the clue-collecting. There are six Research Records in total, and you can obtain 5 of them at most.

Before checking out the cycrane footage, you can obtain one from March 7th and another one from Welt by talking to them; when asking Yunshen about the whereabouts of Yinshu, the two choices “get physical” and “pay for information” each correspond one Record, but you can only choose one out of the two; after getting information on Luocha from Yinshu, you can talk to Yinshu again and get a Record. The last one is the “Title Page” which you’re guaranteed to get from the process.

Moving forward to the plot where Luocha meets up with the buyer. If you choose the correct answer “Title Page” right off the bat, you won’t be able to see dialogues triggered by other Research Records.

And all these dialogues are incredibly fun. I suggest you save “Title Page” as your last choice, and you’ll be surprised even more by checking the description on each clue.

In the plot where Pom-Pom tries to get rid of Luocha, Welt becomes an aurumaton. As to why aurumaton rather than other monsters, I think it’s closely tied to Welt’s own profile. In the world of Honkai Impact 3, Welt is particularly fond of the robot and is seriously fixated on it.

After his arrival in Star Rail, in his conversation with Himeko and text message to the Trailblazer, he still manages to mention the robot. It’s kind of fitting for Welt’s profile that he’d become an aurumaton.

The title page of the detective novel torn off by Luocha mentions a name that the Traveler next door is very familiar with: Chang the Ninth. Coincidentally, the cameo Chang the Ninth writes novels himself in the world he originally comes from.

Finally, after we complete the story of the Companion Mission, and teleport to any location, Jingyan would send us a text message saying that some recordings were fixed. Follow the lead and go to the Realm-Keeping Commission to check the footage, and we’ll learn that Luocha uttered two sentences in front of the Ambrosial Arbor and unlock the Achievement “Coffin Dancer.” There and then, I think it’d be more appropriate if the name of the Achievement is changed to “Luocha and Tree.”

It’s precisely this very short footage that pulls us back from the joy that the Companion Mission brings and we’re forced to re-examine Luocha.

Though Luocha in the story of the Companion Mission is without a doubt a great guy, mysteries revolving around him are not untangled at all but keep piling up if you really think about it. Who is it referring to when Luocha mentioned “our”, what is it that he was going to “handle”, and is “The dead will return” in his combat voices related to the Abundance power in the Ambrosial Arbor incident? Maybe we’ll have to wait till the next Companion Mission or Trailblaze Mission to find out.
