Sky Community Fan Terms

  • Moth: a new player
    • Named because “they have brown wings, they flap around uncontrollably, and they are drawn to flame!”
    • Note: some players use “sparrow” or other names instead
  • Uber: a player who offers to lead other players around to gain candles, emotes, winged light, etc.
    • Named after the taxi-like company Uber.
  • Battery: someone who can help the uber (or you) recharge light when being led around the world of Sky.
    • Named because they continually provide light to the person with which they hold hands.
  • Candle Run (sometimes abbreviated as CR): where you go to one or more realm to collect the candle wax.
  • Winged Light (sometimes abbreviated as WL): the glowing figures that give you flying power when collected.
    • Note: Winged Light are also referred to as “stars” or “children of light”.
  • Winged Light Run: where you go to one or more realm to collect the winged light
  • Wedges: the parts of the half circle at the middle of the top of your screen. They indicate how many flaps you have (as of June 7, 2021, the maximum possible amount of wedges is eleven 11)
  • Krill: the fan term for the Dark Dragons (the giant black flying creatures with blue lights that turn red)
  • Krilled: the fan term for when a Dark Dragon dives and hits a player/players
  • Home Trick: a (now patched) way to prevent losing winged light from being attacked by Dark Dragons by navigating to the Home button in the menu and remaining on the confirmation window while the Dark Dragon attacks
  • Candle Cake: a large bundle of red candles
  • Regular Candle: candle with a heart in the middle – can be earned by collecting candle wax from red candles and burnt darkness plants throughout the realms
  • Seasonal Candle (sometimes abbreviated as SC): candle with a seasonal logo in the middle – can be earned by collecting candle wax from orange candles in the realm in which the seasonal questgiver is standing in front
  • Ascended Candle (sometimes abbreviated as AC): candle with a diamond in the middle – can be obtained by visiting Eden
  • Candle Forging: earning candle(s) by tapping on the candle icon when it is full and has a pulsing red dot on it
  • Daily Lights System: a new candle forging system introduced by TGC in March 2021 to make earning candles easier
  • Chevron: the arrow(s) next to the regular candles that indicate the different levels in the daily light system
  • Gray Candle: the regular candle icon will turn gray when you have collected ~20 candles, and you will forge candles extremely slowly

Spoilers

  • Orbit: the starry place where you go after you die in Eden
  • Reset: Resets the statue locations in Eden every week. The maximum number of statues you can save in a week is 63, for a total of 15.75 ascended candles. If you go to Eden more than once a week, the statues you saved the last time that week will disappear and show only the ones you haven’t saved. Reset will restore all locations
  • Point of No Return (sometimes abbreviated as PNR): the place in Eden where you are asked if you want to proceed to the next area and are given the option to say yes or no
  • Named because you cannot enter any other realm or use the friend constellation to join friends until you have been reborn after you pass the confirmation menu
  • Office: the secret level in Vault

Common Abbreviations

  • CR: see definition for “candle run”
  • WL: see definition for “winged light”

  • GW: Golden Wasteland
  • AC: see definition for “ascended candle”
  • SC: see definition for “seasonal candle”
  • TS: traveling spirit
  • PNR: see definition for “point of no return” in the Spoilers section of this guide.

Total Cost of the Base Game Constellations

To completely finish the base game constellations (including the items above the 2nd wing buff). You’d need:

  • Isle of Dawn: 42 candles, 12 hearts, 3 ACs
  • Daylight Prairie: 122 candles, 48 hearts, 20 ACs
  • Hidden Forest: 145 candles, 273 hearts, 38 ACs

  • Golden Wasteland: 111 candles, 187 hearts, 20 ACs
  • Vault of Knowledge: 104 candles, 230 hearts, 23 ACs

Overall: 631 candles, 1,026 hearts, 137 ACs

  • +300 hearts for two 150 hearts (50×3)
  • 631 candles, 1,325 hearts, 153 ACs

Compared to get 100% on base game:

615 candles, 581 hearts and 106 ACs

All About AFK Timer

AFK: Away From Keyboard

Note that AFKing is highly discouraged, both for the device battery life and for the purpose of the game (also given the function of this timer, AFKing is useless)

With the introduction of passive ways of wax collection (such as Polluted Geyser, Sanctuary Turtle, Social light areas and Grannie’s dinner – as well as occasional wax collection areas during events), TGC implemented an “AFK timer”, that prevents people from collecting wax after a certain amount of AFK time.

During a candle run, the AFK timer resets after entering a new map.

  • After 2 minutes: the sky kid starts to snore and, if alone, sits
  • After about 10 minutes: the sky kid snores heavier (going faster) and, if alone, lays down
  • After 10 minutes: the sky kid doesn’t collect wax anymore, until the screen is touched

Notes

For players ubering an AFK player: their will not change after 10 minutes, so you won’t be able to tell if they are still collecting wax (do warn them)

Background music stops after 3 mins of inactivity, hence it can’t be used as indicator for the AFK timer

Leaving your device alone for long periods of time while running the app is dangerous and can damage the phone/console ‘s performance, causing it to overheat because Sky is an application that requires a lot of battery energy

All About Headphones

The headphones appear automatically on your character whenever you listen to music, audio from another app or you’re in a call while playing Sky. They’ll appear as long as you’re not wearing any hair accessory, such as feathers, horns, pins, hats and so on (this includes hair accessories spells)

This feature is exclusive to iOS devices, due to limitless variation of Android devices (more than 24.000 versions), which makes it difficult, if not impossible, to include this feature on Android devices. It is also not avaliable on Nintendo Switch.

To better explain the Android limitless variation:

Android is an Open Source OS (OS means: Operating system). Device brand manufacturers overtweak their Android to their liking which makes it difficult to make a feature working on all of them. Unlike Apple’d iOS, not only Android 9 or 10 are different but even same Android versions are different from coding point of view and external audio perceiving between a Xiaomi and a Sony or even different models of the same brand for example.

Headphones Troubleshooting

Headphones don’t go away: check/close all sound-related background apps, restart device, unplug accessory and/or clean its physical connector from dust.
Headphones don’t appear: make sure accessory is connected, in-game accessory cancels the headphones.

Losing Wings

What happens when I lose a Winged Light?

If you lose a winged light, you will need to go through the realms to look for them again. The one you lose can be any of the ones you have already collected before losing it. The location will be completely random. If you end up losing more Winged Light than you have already collected, then you will start to lose wing buffs.

What happens if I lose all my Winged Light and Wing Buffs?

When this happens, you will be sent to a dark room frequently referred to a “pity room” where you will find a Winged Light waiting for you. Once you have collected the Winged Light, you will be sent back to the home space.

Wing Buffs

What are Wing Buffs?

When you “ascend” a spirit, you purchase its wing buff. A wing buff is the node in a spirit tree that looks like a lock with wings. They cost ascended candles, which you get from running Eden.

Do Spirits with Two Wing Buffs grant you more wings?

Yes, for spirits with two Wing Buffs to unlock, each unlocked Wing Buff grants you an additional wing!

Do the Wing Buffs in the Friendship Tree give you more wings?

No, the Unlocked Wing Buff in the friendship trees do not grant you additional wings. Instead, they unlock higher tier friendship interactions with that particular friend!

What do Wing Buffs do?

Wing buffs act like winged light, but instead of needing to collect them like in the regular realms, they are given to you right before going through the rebirth portal in orbit. This means instead of being reborn with just one winged light and cape wedge, you can have multiple without needing to collect any winged light to begin with.

Can you lose Wing Buffs?

There are several things in the game that can cause you to lose wings such as getting hit by a krill, staying in the rain for too long or swimming in the waters of wasteland for too long. Whenever you lose wings, you will first lose winged lights. These are the wings you can retrieve by going through the realms to retrieve them. The winged light you lose is random, therefore you will need to go through all the realms to find the specific one you lost. If you lose more wings than the number of winged lights you have, you can end up losing wing buffs as well. The only way for you to retrieve these is to go through Eden all the way.

  1. Final quest is bugged, i am unable to complete the final quest. I am at the final step where you have to go into the shared space for the last time and “follow the spirits and place their favorite item near them.” But when I go into the Shared Space, there is NO icon to emote to them to have them move to their place. When I leave the shared space, the icons for interacting with them appear but since I am not in the shared space, having the interact icons in the main game space doesn’t do any good! I have relogged and left and re-entered the area, nothing is letting these spirits have their interact icons inside the shared space as intended.

Probably due to the fact that the F key is bound to a function inside the shared space…Re-using the F key for everything is the worst control scheme imaginable.

    • Omg I figured it out. Once in the shared space press V to go into preview mode and then speak with the spirits. Just so you know, I spoke with the spirit with the green cloak and beard first and that, for some reason, caused me to be unable to interact with the others. So I suggest you speak to him last.
