Space Engineers – HomeFront Systems Classing Guide

This guide serves as the basis for classing and naming of ships, chassis’, vehicles, stations, and other various builds manufactured and designed by the Solar System based Military Manufacturing Contractor known as HomeFront Systems, established in the Solar System on Earth.

Namesakes, Basis of Classification

All designs from HomeFront Systems follow a strict identification guide, which goes as such:

First, would lead the letters HFS.

Next, would be the name of the ship, based off the following namesakes:

  • Large Grid Ships used for military purposes are named after either the Capitol of a state in the United States, or a Capitol from another country, in the 21st Century on Earth.
  • Large Grid Ships used for utility purposes are named after Countries from the 21st Century on Earth.
  • Small Grid Ships used for military purposes are named after Bladed Weaponry, such as Swords, as well as Arthropods, Insects, and Hexapods, or Avian Fauna.
  • Small Grid Ships used for utility purpses are named after handheld tools.
  • Ground Based Vehicles are named after Fauna from the 21st Century or earlier on Earth.
  • Ground Based Stations are named after mountains from the Solar System, Earth-Based or otherwise.
  • Space Based Stations are named after celestial bodies, such as Planets, Planetoids, Galaxies, etc.
  • Man-Made Weapons such as Torpedoes, Turrets, and so on, are named after weather or celestial based phenomena, such as Typhoon, Comet, Supernova, etc.

After the naming, the ship would fall into a certain class, which will be discussed in detail further in the guide.

After the classing, the identification of the design will include a “type” meso-fix. These are:

One of the following:

  • Capable of Flight: 1
  • Ground Based: 2
  • Station: 3

And one of the following:

  • Atmospheric: A
  • Ion: IO
  • Hydrogen: H
  • Mixed Thrust: MT

Then, there would follow a Model Number if there were to be any modifications to the design.

After that, there would follow the date of its creation, NOT its publication to the galactic market.

These would all culminate into the following format:

  • HFS Name Class Type-Model Nm.-DDMMYY.

An example would be:

  • HFS Gladius Interceptor 1H-01-211121.
