BrawlHalla Fortis
Fortis Playstyle
Fortis is an aggressive brawler that performs best at mid to close range. Use low divots, rocks, and other cover to approach enemies safely and take advantage of angles.
Fortis can function as a middle-ground brawler capable of winning fights against most opponents, although fighting an Atlas head-on should be avoided. Once an enemy gets within close range, aggressively ram them and use your barrel at point-blank range.
Mines can also be used to restrict enemy movement. Place them in paths that enemies may use to move past you, particularly when you need to control their positioning.
Combat Tips
Prioritize Close-Range Engagements
Fortis has relatively weak accuracy, so mid-range and especially close-range combat are where the vehicle performs best.
Play as though you have no armor. Fortis does have armor, but it is still relatively squishy in direct head-on engagements.
Use Mines to Control Movement
Mines take a moment to arm after being deployed, so they are not an immediate source of damage. However, they can be valuable for controlling enemy movement.
They are particularly useful in 2v1 situations when you need to prevent one enemy from rotating behind you.
The exception is Alecto, against whom this tactic does not work as effectively.
Use Drift Sparker
Practice using Drift Sparker effectively. Its value comes from the acceleration it provides rather than simply its movement speed.
Use it to rotate aggressively. If you hear the sound effect, you performed the maneuver correctly.
This allows you to perform point-blank rams fairly consistently and gain HP from them.
Ram Enemies Whenever Possible
Take every opportunity to ram an enemy. A successful ram restores 75 HP, which can help keep Fortis alive during close fights.
Manage Healing Shells
Switch to Healing Shells when you reach approximately half HP or when you run out of Garg-Shells.
Optional Component Choices
High Accuracy
For a stronger mid-game presence, replace Healing Rounds with High Accuracy. This improves Fortis’s ability to land shots at longer ranges.
Replacing Bullwarks
Bullwarks can be replaced with any component of your choice. Bullwarks provide 170 HP, which is not considered particularly substantial.
Explosive Shells
Explosive Shells are not recommended for this build. They sacrifice 80mm of penetration for some additional accuracy compared with Garg-Shells, which is not considered worth the trade-off.
It is better to penetrate and hit your shots than to deal 20% more damage.
