Tyr – Counterbattery Atlas Build Guide

Counterbattery Atlas

Counterbattery Atlas is an off-meta Atlas build focused on unleashing repeated sonar pings as soon as the Atlas becomes spotted. While spotted, sonar has a 5-second cooldown, allowing the build to be highly effective against hidden enemies.

The first sonar ping can reveal the bush where an enemy is hiding. Five seconds later, once the turret has been aimed at the target, a second ping can pinpoint the enemy for a precision blindfire shot that can leave snipers and light tanks reeling. Use sonar to ping other hidden enemies and reveal them to the team as well.

Scaling and Energy Generation

The build benefits from scaling through repeated sonar use. Each sonar use:

  • Increases maximum HP.
  • Provides a small heal.
  • Increases shell damage.

Hitting an enemy after a sonar ping generates enough energy to fuel 1 to 2 additional sonar pulses with the aid of Core Amp. This allows successful hits to fuel further sonar use and strengthen the build’s snowball.

The build does not have the 2700 base HP of an Atlas with Bulkheads, but after 10 cheap sonar pulses, it can reach and even exceed 2700 maximum HP.

Sonar is the cheapest ability in the game, while the Atlas is the fattest tank in the game. The ability’s low cost helps compensate for this combination.

Shell Choices

Shell selection is variable. The current setup uses:

  • Spotting shells: Give blindfire shots a chance to turn a blindfire into a spotted and obliterated enemy, although spotting shells have been significantly reduced in effectiveness.
  • High-accuracy shells: Help ensure that quickly pivoted blindfire shots connect at long range.

Another option is energy shells, which generate more energy and can fuel an even harder snowball with Propagation Drive.
