Tyr – Tempest: Quality of Life DPS Build Guide

Tempest: Quality of Life DPS Build

This Tempest build focuses almost entirely on allowing the tank to deal damage as often as possible while maintaining enough flexibility to feel good to play. It is not necessarily the highest DPS a Tempest can achieve, but it provides a balance between firepower and quality of life.

Components

Quick Slot

Firing alternate shells reduces reload time by 15%.

Most of the time, you will be firing Unstable or Siphon shells, so reducing the reload time by 15% is very useful. This cuts the reload time by an entire 3 seconds and makes the reload feel much less sluggish.

To activate the effect, make sure the last shell you fire is an alternate shell.

Stable Rangefinder

Time to enter precision aiming is reduced by 85% when more than 8 seconds have elapsed since your last reload.

This does not come into play in every battle, but it is particularly useful against more armoured tanks and when trying to land the shots you want at longer ranges.

Duplicator

Increases base Shell Damage by 5 and doubles the number of shells gained from all sources.

With the alternate shells fully upgraded in the Tech Tree, Duplicator doubles the number of shells from 15 to 30. This is enough to last through almost all matches.

The additional Shell Damage is also useful.

Shells

Unstable

Increased damage and decreased dispersion. Decreased max speed.

With Shell Swap Time fully upgraded in the Tech Tree, you can essentially avoid the downside by switching between Unstable and another shell almost instantly. This makes Unstable effectively a general buff.

It is particularly useful for longer-range shots because of its decreased dispersion.

Siphon

Heals 18 HP upon penetration. This amount is tripled when below half health.

Siphon provides significant survivability for the Tempest, allowing it to live longer and survive multiple shots against lower-damage tanks.

A full clip could potentially heal you for up to 270 HP.

Tech Tree

This build does not invest in anything Energy-based and does not take a Keystone. With the focus on firepower, the last point can be spent elsewhere. The ability is still useful without any upgrades to it.

Max Speed: 5/5

Increases max speed by 3.8 kph.

The build prioritizes increased movement speed over additional starting Energy, although either option is viable.

Secondary Shells: 3/3

Increases starting secondary shells by 10.

Combined with Duplicator, this allows you to carry a large number of secondary shells at the start of the match.

Shell Swap Time: 3/3

Reduces shell swap time by 3.45 seconds.

This makes the downside of Unstable effectively non-existent and provides a useful quality-of-life improvement.

Tertiary Shells: 1/1

Increases starting tertiary shells by 15.

As with Secondary Shells, this is particularly effective when combined with Duplicator, allowing you to carry a large number of shells at the start of the match.

Intraclip Reload: 4/5

Reduces intraclip reload time by 0.2 seconds.

This increases the firing rate, which can be helpful for keeping yourself alive while dealing damage.

Four points are enough to make the firing rate feel good, although five points can also be invested here.

Base Aiming Dispersion: 5/5

Reduces base aiming dispersion by 12%.

This provides additional accuracy for longer-range shots and can allow you to do some effective sniping.

Firing Dispersion: 5/5

Reduces firing dispersion on aiming by 26%.

This is particularly effective on the Tempest, especially with its higher firing rate. It makes it much easier to land consecutive shots.

Shell Velocity: 1/1

Increases base shell velocity by 20%.

This one-point upgrade makes long-range sniping easier.

Aim Speed: 4/4

Increases aim speed by 12%.

This was chosen over Shell Damage because the increased aim speed helps land hits more often and makes the Tempest feel more reliable.
