Deep Rock Galactic – Jumping + Running Tips

Tips to Use Jump and Run

Сrеdit gоеs to Femboy Thighs!

Jumping carries your momentum. this can be used in a lot of ways. The most obvious is when carrying objects. If you run, jump, and THEN pick up a carry-able object, you’ll carry it through the air with you, preserving your sprint speed. You can do this to get heavy objects around just a little bit faster (make sure to constantly throw them too).

But, it’s useful in 4 other interesting scenarios.

  1. An Overclock for the Minigun called “Lead Storm” makes you stop moving while firing. You can completely negate this downside by hopping. It won’t stop you from moving through the air, so just move and jump before firing and let off the trigger for a split second when landing to jump again.
  2. As a Scout w/ the Grapple, or Engie with the PGL Overclock “RJ250 Compound,” you can use the previously mentioned mid-air carry-able grab trick to transport things extremely quickly. For Scout, throw an object in the air, grapple towards it, grab mid-air, then throw again. Useful for getting stuff up huge cliffs. As Engie, jump, shoot to rocket jump, then hold E with a nearby object to carry it through the air with you. Hard to get it right, but when it works it’s sooo satisfying.
  3. You can greatly extend the Dash perk’s utility using jumps. Jumping before the dash wears off keeps the dash active until you land again, letting you absolutely soar through the air if the terrain allows it. At the very least, it extends your dash duration just a tiny bit. You can use this to cross pits and gaps that no Dwarf could normally hope to achieve. Also, if you Dash with jet boots, you can cross hundreds of meters in seconds this way.
  4. In On-Site Refinery missions, you can use this jump tech to add momentum when grinding on rails. When you ride a pipe down a slope, jump and hope E to land back on the pipeline. You’ll speed up every time you do this (unless you’re going UP a slope), letting you chain jumps together to gain stupid amounts of speed. Dash-jumping onto a pipeline also carries that speed with it too.
