Ice / Ether Elf Build

This Ice/Ether Elf build focuses on using Blizzard to stack Frostbound, then consuming Frostbound with Frost Glide or Frost Javelin for damage. The build is intended for solo play. It is not built as a pure glass cannon, allowing the player to facetank some attacks.

Mandatory Skills

Blizzard

Blizzard deals damage and stacks Frostbound each second. It is the primary skill used to build Frostbound.

Frost Glide

Frost Glide provides skating mobility and deals significant damage. A target can be hit up to two times, followed by one Frostbound explosion.

Optional Skills

Alpha Howl

Alpha Howl can hit large targets multiple times and deals both Ice and Ether damage. It is also useful for clearing groups of enemies.

Timeless Void

Timeless Void is used as a high-damage option in the current version of the build.

Aetherfang Phalanx

Aetherfang Phalanx is useful for clearing groups of enemies. It can also be used when bosses have area attacks that make it difficult to remain in melee range.

War Banner

War Banner provides 20% magic damage. The source does not establish whether this bonus is multiplicative or additive, but it can be dropped on a boss for an additional damage boost.

Frost Javelin

Frost Javelin provides burst damage with Frostbound and Chill stacking and can reach around 6,000 or more damage.

If Timeless Void is nerfed, Frost Javelin is the suggested alternative.

Armor Sets

The build currently uses two sets: Convergence and Pathweaver. Both are described as elemental agnostic, allowing them to benefit both the Frost and Ether sides of the build.

Convergence

Convergence provides magic damage and Concentration.

It gives an additional 20% magic damage when 30 or more Concentration is spent. Using Timeless Void or Frost Javelin activates this bonus.

Pathweaver

Pathweaver gives 7% magic damage each time you attack with physical attacks. The bonus lasts for 4 seconds and can stack up to 5 times, allowing up to 35% magic damage.

The set is relatively easy to farm if you can kill a Tier 3 Corrupted Treant.

Pathweaver was chosen partly for a planned hybrid physical and magic playstyle. Although the build did not fully develop into that concept, physical attacks can still be used between casts to build Pathweaver’s magic damage bonus.

Other Sets to Consider

Frostward

The 2-piece Frostward combination provides an additional 8% Ice damage.

Gusting

Gusting is described as difficult to farm, but its 4-piece combination may work well when combined with Frostward.

If you obtain good pieces from either Frostward or Gusting, the source recommends replacing Pathweaver with them.

Ether Sets

Ether-focused sets are another option. The source recommends looking at Sphaerah’s build for more information about Ether sets.

Chillhowl may also work particularly well with Timeless Void, although this is presented as a possibility rather than a confirmed interaction.

Pet

The build uses the Fangra Wolf.

The Ice Owl is also suggested as an alternative, although the source does not establish how much difference the choice makes.

Build Gameplay

The core gameplay revolves around building and consuming Frostbound:

1. Use Blizzard to deal damage and stack Frostbound each second.
2. Use Frost Glide or Frost Javelin to consume Frostbound for damage.
3. Use physical attacks between spell casts when using Pathweaver to build its magic damage bonus.
4. Use Timeless Void as the current high-damage option.
5. Use Frost Javelin as an alternative burst option if Timeless Void is nerfed.
6. Use Aetherfang Phalanx when clearing groups or when boss area attacks make it difficult to stay close.
7. Drop War Banner on bosses when its magic damage bonus is useful.
